We are currently looking to hire a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team at Desert Veterinary Clinic in Yuma, Arizona. Our busy, 3-doctor practice sees a variety of pets providing preventative and urgent care services.   Bilingual (Spanish) speakers encouraged to apply!

Relocation Assistance Available to qualified candidates!

Salary: Starts at $20 per hour, and depends on experience, education, licensure, and certifications.

Location: 995 S 5th Ave, Yuma, AZ 85364

Schedule: 4/10-hour shifts; Monday – Saturday, 8 am – 6 pm, closed Sundays and major holidays.

Desert Veterinary Clinic is a general practice veterinary clinic in Yuma, AZ, run by Dr. Cheryl Haugo. Some of the veterinary services we offer are vaccine and preventative care and a full range of in-house diagnostics, chronic disease management, routine and emergency surgery, digital and dental radiography, dental cleaning and extractions, dietary recommendations, laser therapy, and end-of-life care. Our skilled veterinary team is committed to educating clients on how to keep their pets healthy through all stages of life!

Who You Are:

  • 2+ years of veterinary clinical experience, as a veterinary technician or assistant
  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) in Arizona, or eligible to transfer/acquire state license within 3 months of hire required
  • Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
  • Passion for working with small animals, birds, exotics, and their owners
  • Experience with proper animal handling and restraint for a variety of species
  • Ability to perform nursing care in a hospital or outdoor setting
  • Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare
  • Understands the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Dental procedure experience, scaling, polishing, radiology
  • Skilled in IV Catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, applying casts, bandages and splints
  • Anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience including intubation, monitoring, pre-operative and post-operative care
  • Laboratory skills including cytology set-up and interpretation
  • Diagnostic experience including digital radiology, dental radiology, and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis
