As a Rehab Aide, you will assist your fellow caregivers in the application of a wide variety of therapeutic techniques to patients managing functional limitations, impairments and disorders. You will predominately support Physical Therapists in this role but will offer support to Occupational Therapists and Speech Language Pathologists. Ultimately, your efforts help enhance treatment outcomes, improve motivation, boost morale and provide a welcoming environment to all those you meet.

A caregiver in this position works 5 8-hour shifts per week with variable start/end times between 7:00AM – 5:00PM. 4 weekend days per 8-week schedule plus 2 holidays per year will be required.
Tradition Hospital will be the primary work location, but covering other shifts at Martin North and Martin South Hospitals will be required, as needed.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Support inpatient and/or outpatient Physical Therapy and Orthopedic teams, including checking and maintaining par levels of supplies, ordering supplies and maintaining inventory levels and storing supplies as received.
Contact vendors to facilitate orders for prosthetics/orthotics and ensure appropriate charging is completed.
Ensure billing/charging is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Assist with patient flow and with moving, ambulating and transporting patients as directed.
For outpatient assignments: check temperatures of hydrocollator, aquacisor and paraffin and log, notify engineering if an adjustment is necessary, clean equipment, prepare treatment areas and modalities and assist the office coordinator with filing, answering phones, preparing patient charts and photocopying.
For inpatient assignments: Perform orthopedic duties, set up traction, trapezes and CPM machines, apply, remove and modify casts, and set up footboards, soft orthopedic goods and other related equipment.
Create a safe environment of care through rounding, maintaining the equipment room and ensuring equipment is placed in soiled utility room for cleaning.
Perform orthopedic technician procedures.
Document verification of order in medical records.
Apply orthopedic appliances, soft goods and/or casts as ordered.
Assist with the maintenance and cleanliness of supportive areas and equipment (e.g., equipment room, soiled utility room, medication/supply rooms, etc.).
Check orthopedic equipment monthly and clean and maintain equipment without prompting.
Provide patient education on cast care and how to remove and apply splints.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma/GED
Reasoning, mathematical and English language skills
Physical Requirements:
Work is medium/frequent, lifting and carrying equipment, supplies and materials up to 50 pounds without help of mechanical devices or other personnel.
Stooping, pushing, reaching and pulling when moving patients or equipment into position for treatment.
Working Environment and Demands of Position: The occupant of this position spends 98% his/her time in air-conditioned areas, the remainder in outside areas. The potential for exposure to blood and blood-borne pathogens is present while completing clinical duties.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
