Role Purpose

The purpose of this job is to provide technical support for the Azure (Cloud) data warehouse. The main task will be to support the ETL and day to day operations on the Azure data warehouse with some support work on the on prem Oracle data warehouse.

Key Accountabilities

  • Monitor ETL loads.
  • Re-run the ETL loads from the point of failure.
  • Investigate/fix data reconciliation issues (SR’s).
  • Impact Analysis for changes to source systems through DCR’s or Config changes.
  • Performance tuning of ETL Loads and SQL scripts.
  • Support for Incidents, Service Requests, Change Requests & Projects.
  • Support projects for new ETL Load Development and deployment.
  • Support Auditors/Governance team on data related queries.
  • Keep abreast of the changes to the data warehouse to ensure that competency is maintained.
  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications which will effectively convey meaning to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or similar disciplines
  • At least 1 year of experience in data related projects with focus on data integration and ingestion.
  • Will need to quickly understand the data structures of the software systems (Oracle Utilities, Salesforce, MS Dynamics etc.) used by the business.
  • Fundamental understanding of data modelling.
  • Some experience in working on large databases with multiple tables and stored procedures/packages.
  • Good knowledge of SQL
  • Good knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.

Nice to have skills

  • Experience with Qlik Replicate, Compose.
  • Oracle PL/SQL (develop ETLs, complex procedures and packages).
  • Experience with a visualisation tool such as Power BI.
