Overview

The Department of Neuroscience seeks a Tissue Procurement and Regulatory Coordinator for an upcoming new project. This is a multi-institutional/site research infrastructure so the candidate will be working across multiple project teams at various domestic and international collaborative sites. Key responsibilities include:

Tissue Procurement Coordination

• Leads coordination of tissue procurement activities required for research objectives.

• Establishes and maintains operational workflows for tissue acquisition, processing, documentation, and tracking.

• Coordinates closely with clinical partners, procurement teams, and laboratory investigators to ensure proper sample collection and handling.

• Oversees chain-of-custody documentation and traceability of biological materials.

• Ensures tissue procurement activities comply with institutional, ethical, and regulatory standards.

Regulatory and Documentation Oversight

• Coordinates preparation and maintenance of regulatory documentation associated with tissue procurement and research use.

• Supports IRB-related documentation and compliance procedures.

• Maintains project documentation related to biospecimen acquisition and use.

• Ensures documentation accuracy and regulatory compliance across research activities.

Overall  Project Coordination

• Supports day-to-day coordination of project activities across research teams.

• Tracks project timelines, deliverables, and operational milestones.

• Facilitates communication between investigators, laboratory personnel, and collaborating institutions.

• Assists with coordination of project resources, including personnel, supplies, and research infrastructure.

Data and Sample Integrity

• Oversees documentation systems related to sample tracking and research data integrity.

•Supports quality control procedures associated with biological materials and associated datasets.

• Ensures proper documentation standards are maintained to support downstream analyses and publications.

Required Skills and Abilities

1. Demonstrated strong organizational, analytical, and training skills with the ability to manage complex research projects.
2. Demonstrated ability to perform independent research and laboratory techniques, and previous experience working with collaborative research teams.
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to supervise staff and work both independently and as part of a team.
4. Previous experience in biobanking and or tissue procurement and tissue acquisition (e.g. donor selection, specimen handling, transport).
 

Preferred Skills and Abilities

1. Master's or Ph.D. in neuroscience, with prior experience in managing lab staff and operations.

Principal Responsibilities

1. Designs, plans, implements and evaluates complex multifaceted research projects/systems, including method development, adaptation and validation. 2. Collaborates with PI to define research endeavors and the development of research hypothesis and approach. 3. Solves complex methodology, protocol, procedural and research problems through design of techniques, procedures and policies that will achieve research goals. 4. Develops long range plans for supplies and equipment to ensure smooth operation of laboratory. 5. Investigates, analyzes and evaluates complex data, data collection systems and methods to reach scientific conclusions and ensures the integrity of research data. 6. Collaborates with PI to coordinate major lab renovations working with Facilities, Health and Safety, and Purchasing to ensure deadlines, safety standards and purchases are according to plans and within budgets. 7. Prepares scientific reports and papers for research proposals and published reports. 8. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline and three years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
