About the Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned backend engineer to take ownership of our DEX Derivatives, Web3 Growth, and Innovative Product verticals. You will be responsible for designing, building, and scaling the core backend systems that power OKX's next-generation Web3 products across multiple blockchains. This role offers the opportunity to shape a platform from the ground up and grow into a leadership role as our team expands.

What You’ll Be Doing

System Design & Development
  • Build secure, scalable, and well-tested backend systems to support OKX’s Web3 product suite, including derivatives trading, cross-chain liquidity, and growth-focused user engagement features.
Product Execution
  • Shepherd products from concept and specification through to live deployment, ensuring high standards of reliability and performance in production environments.
Cross-Chain & Protocol Integration
  • Scale Web3 products across multiple blockchain ecosystems (e.g., Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, BSC) and core DeFi protocols, ensuring seamless interoperability and robust architecture.
DEX Derivatives & Innovative Products
  • Lead the development of novel DEX-based derivatives products (e.g., options, perpetuals, structured products) and experiment with innovative Web3 growth mechanisms such as token incentives, referral systems, and gamified engagement.
AI-Enhanced Development
  • Leverage AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, GPT Engineer) to accelerate development cycles, improve code quality, automate testing, and explore AI-driven product features such as smart order routing or user behavior analysis.
Technical Leadership
  • Drive engineering best practices, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to architectural decisions as the team grows.

 

What We Look For In You

  • 5+ years of professional backend development experience, with a track record of building scalable, high-availability systems.
  • Strong drive and ambition to lead the development of a brand-new Web3 platform from ideation to launch.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code in Java
  • Solid understanding of blockchain fundamentals, DeFi mechanics, and dApp architecture.
  • Proven experience or strong willingness to integrate AI tools into the development workflow for improved productivity and innovation.
  • Passion for decentralized technologies and the Web3 ecosystem.

 

Nice to Haves 

  • Experience with derivatives trading systems, order-matching engines, or risk management in fintech/crypto.
  • Hands-on experience with cross-chain protocols (e.g., LayerZero, Wormhole, CCIP), smart contract interaction, or oracle integrations.
  • Previous work in growth product development, including A/B testing, referral systems, or tokenomics design.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML tooling in software development, including prompt engineering for code generation, debugging, and system design.
  • Leadership experience or clear potential to grow into a technical lead role.
