Red Hat's IT Infrastructure Services team is searching for a Senior Storage Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. This role will help the team deliver on Red Hat's next-generation IT and hybrid Data Center strategy. As a Senior Storage Engineer, you’ll have direct experience providing storage solutions for business-level functions, such as Data Recovery & Protection, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity.
You will contribute to the design, implementation, and support of Storage solutions supporting internal Red Hat teams. Develop and maintain a hybrid cloud/on-prem storage environment capable of handling tens of petabytes of data. Participate in vetting new storage solutions and providing feedback to vendors regarding Red Hat company needs. Support backup and disaster recovery tools.
What will you do:
Provide direction on strategic initiatives for the storage infrastructure
Assist with the development of data security and data protection policies and solutions; ensure strict compliance with all such policies
Establish and recommend policies on system use and services; help define offerings, KPIs, monitoring, and overall management of the services
Develop new services and capabilities to support a Hybrid Data Center model
Partner with business groups to consult on technical solutions that drive the business forward
Extensively partner with vendors to help build and support solutions
Make presentations to customers and client audiences or professional peers
What will you bring:
+7 years of Enterprise Data Storage management experience, including SAN, NAS, on-prem and cloud, NFS, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel
Experience with Ansible or other equivalent tools
Must have multi-years of experience, particularly with NetApp technologies including AFF, FAS, E-series, StorageGrid, CVO, Cloud Sync, FSx, Cloud Insights, AIQUM, System Manager
Experience with Amazon FSx for NetApp OnTAP or other S3-compatible storage environments
Experience deploying on-prem S3 storage or S3 translation layers
Provide technical expertise for system design, installation, configuration, performance tuning, capacity planning, troubleshooting, and problem resolutions
Strong documentation skills to include creating and updating detailed environment design, installation, and support documentation
Interface with internal and external security/audit teams to secure all storage systems against internal and external threats. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to Executive Leadership
Participate in weekday On-Duty and weekend On-Call rotations required
Excellent time management, decision-making, presentation, social, and organizational skills
Adapt to balancing multiple projects and competing priorities
Although is not strictly required, experience with open-source storage technologies as well as experience providing storage to open-source platforms such as OpenShift, OpenStack, and RHEV
The following are considered a plus:
Any NetApp certifications, Red Hat certifications, or open-source experience will be taken into consideration
A thorough understanding of rsync and SnapMirror across multi-site solutions
Host and storage backup and recovery experience with Rubrik
Proficiency in using various work planning/process tools such as Jira & ServiceNow
Familiarity with the concepts of data security and business continuity at the business level i.e. creating tiered recovery strategies across different criticality applications and across on-prem and cloud-based infrastructures
