As a Junior Software Engineer in the Ingestion team, you will contribute to the development of Bolt’s data ecosystem. You’ll help build and maintain platforms and automations that enable Bolt teams to ingest and govern large numbers of datasets in a reliable and scalable way.

You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and collaborate with data producers to support their use cases, gradually learning how to turn real-world data challenges into maintainable platform solutions. The team focuses on solving data ingestion problems at scale while keeping the ecosystem reliable, cost-effective and easy to use.

<title>Main tasks and responsibilities:</title>

• <point>Building and maintaining data ingestion pipelines using Spark, Kafka and change-data-capture, with guidance from the team.</point>
• <point>Contributing to frameworks that improve observability of data usage within the storage layer (e.g. S3).</point>
• <point>Working closely with software engineers, SRE, DBRE, analysts and analytics engineers to understand their workflows and help reduce friction in building and maintaining data products.</point>
• <point>Supporting and extending CI/CD workflows with GitHub Actions to validate, test and deploy data products reliably.</point>
• <point>Helping improve observability, documentation and overall developer experience across the data platform.</point>
• <point>You’ll be supported through code reviews, pair programming and mentorship from senior engineers, with clear opportunities to grow in ownership and technical depth over time.</point>

<title>About you:</title>

• <point>You have 1-2 years of experience as a software or data engineer (including internships, academic or personal projects) with hands-on exposure to data pipelines or analytics workloads in cloud environments.</point>
• <point>You have basic proficiency with Spark and can read and write Spark jobs (Scala or equivalent) and contribute to existing data ingestion pipelines with guidance.</point>
• <point>You have a foundational understanding of data engineering concepts, including change data capture, Kafka and data governance, and are motivated to learn and apply them in practice.</point>
• <point>You have strong communication skills, are fluent in spoken and written English, and you’re comfortable collaborating with both technical and non-technical colleagues.</point>
• <point>You understand modern CI/CD practices and value automation, testing and observability as core engineering principles.</point>
• <point>You’re driven by customer success, motivated by helping teams be more productive and enabling them to build better data products.</point>
• <point>Nice to have: You have experience with Databricks, Airflow, DataHub or dbt; familiariar with data quality and validation concepts; hands-on experience using AI tools to reduce repetitive work and speed up feedback loops.</point>
