As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will organize the activities and workflow of the Patient Access area. This role will allow you to create a foundation in healthcare and explore opportunities at Cleveland Clinic. Your fellow caregivers will encourage you in enhancing your customer service skills and finding your place within the organization.   

A caregiver in this position works primarily 7:00am to 3:30pm. Hours may vary based on facility needs.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Organize and coordinate the activities and flow of work for the patient access area.  
  • Develop, implement and oversee programs to improve appointment utilization such as reminder, follow-up on no-show/cancellation program.  
  • Coordinate activities and resolve operational problems.  
  • Adjust employees, patients and physicians' schedules to respond to operational problems.  
  • Control and audit the reconciliation of day sheets including adjusting statistics in the computer data bank.  
  • Produce reports as needed. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Two years of Cleveland Clinic outpatient scheduling experience or equivalent, including interacting with patients, physicians, and other departments on a problem resolution basis  
  • OR three years of external outpatient scheduling experience, including resolving patient scheduling and the coordination of the work of others  
  • OR Associate Degree and one year of experience  
  • OR Bachelor's Degree 

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires frequent data entry, sitting, standing and walking. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and speech. Occasional lifting or pushing up to 25 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
