Inside the Role

This position is part of the Detroit Transaxle Mechanics & Fluids team, a group within a department dedicated to both conventional and emerging propulsion technologies. Our scope includes research and development of transmissions, axles, fluids, and electronic components.
Our team specializes in the validation of transmissions, (e)Axles, and their associated fluids. We take pride in our global collaboration efforts as we design, test, and release advanced powertrain technologies for the North American commercial vehicle market.

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Lead and manage DVP&Rs for clutches and transmission development programs.
  • Utilize structured problem-solving methods to identify root cause and develop corrective action within a timely manner.
  • Utilize Global and regional tools to maintain individual validation plans.
  • Analyze data, draw conclusions, and provide recommendations to the management team.
  • Align, plan and support the execution of clutch, transmission, axle and PT system tests
  • evaluate the efficiency and lifetime reliability of those aggregates
  • Lead test result reporting and the automation thereof
  • Support cross-functional activities with regional and Global counterparts in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing, and Suppliers.
  • Independently schedule work including issuing work orders, monitoring progress, and resolving problems in order to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Conduct and thoroughly document project work, draw conclusions, and make recommendations and review with management.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain professional/social interaction in a multi-cultural and international environment.
  • Maintain daily record of work hours by project
  • Other activities as necessary and/or assigned

 

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline with 2-4 years relevant industry experience
  • Minimum 2 years in specialization powertrain components and related technical skillset
  • 2+ years of transmission and axle development experience
  • 3+ years software and technical experience utilizing MATLAB and CANape
  • Advance demonstrable knowledge electrical and or mechanical aptitude.
  • Effective communication skill set, must high level organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Global experience in multi cultural environments and technology
  • Evidence of collaborative skillset, advance level in problem -solving /solution technical approach
  • Ability to multitask, initiate to escalate timely and appropriately
  • Proficient in troubleshooting PC applications, including Microsoft Office and database tools.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15%.
  • Must have valid Passport

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Master of Science or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Computer Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology (ABET Accredited University).
  • 4+ years of programming experience in CANoe
  • 3+ years proficient developing powertrain components or functions

Understand and speak German language.
