What We Offer

  • Compensation – We support transparency, equity, and fairness in our compensation programs. We offer a competitive hourly rate based on education level and qualifications, as follows:

    • Undergraduate students: $25.00/hour

    • Graduate students: $29.00/hour

    • Ph.D./JD students: $37.00/hour

  • Hybrid work option – Staff will be assigned to the Washington, DC (Headquarters); Ashburn, VA; Irvine, CA; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; Denver, CO; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Tampa, FL; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; New York, NY; Charlotte, NC; Philadelphia, PA; Dallas, TX; or Houston, TX office or location. Staff can choose to live and work from anywhere within the United States but will be required to commute to their assigned office or location for occasional intentional gatherings or meetings at the frequency required by their supervisor. Travel to an assigned office or location for commuting purposes will not be considered reimbursable business travel, unless otherwise required by state law. Business travel is reimbursable in an amount not exceeding the cost to travel from the assigned office or location, unless otherwise required by state law. 

Role Summary

The PCAOB is seeking a data analysis intern for the Summer 2025 cohort. As a data analysis intern, you will have the opportunity to work with academics, economists, and auditors to develop analytical tools for a variety of research topics. The assignments will allow you to develop a deeper understanding of auditing, financial markets, and economics while also developing your analytical skills.

Additionally, interns will provide support to PCAOB by assisting management with the collection, organization, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to collaborate on the development and execution of the PCAOB’s strategic plan, including risk assessment, data gathering, risk heat maps, dashboards, and development of policies.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean and organize financial and non-financial data using a variety of tools;

  • Ensure data quality through review and validation with source material;

  • Analyze both qualitative and quantitative data;

  • Assist with financial, statistical, and econometric analysis;

  • Conduct research using subscription database services, proprietary data, financial filings, and the internet;

  • Other projects may be assigned on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Statistics or Data Science;

  • Experience with or willingness to learn large, unstructured datasets;

  • Familiarity with at least one statistical package or programming language (Stata, PYTHON, R, VBA, SQL, etc.);

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint

  • Ability to be flexible, work independently and be self-motivated.

  • Strong programming skills desired.
