Overview

At the Global Technology Center (GTC), Bengaluru, we are looking for motivated and capable Apprentices to join our growing GIS and Geospatial delivery teams.

The Apprentice will work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams delivering GIS and GIS-enabled engineering and asset data across large-scale data capture initiatives and major infrastructure projects including High-Speed Rail, Network Rail, Highways, Utilities, and Environmental projects.

This is a dynamic role, with project requirements evolving month-on-month, offering strong exposure to international delivery environments, best practices, and cutting-edge spatial technologies. The role will suit individuals with a foundation in GIS within engineering and environmental domains, who demonstrate strong quality awareness, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset.

Your Role

Essential Skills & Experience

• Practical experience or strong willingness to work within international GIS delivery teams.
• Experience supporting GIS requirements across multiple projects.
• Hands-on experience in GIS data editing and digitisation.
• Strong working knowledge of ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro tools.
• Experience using ArcGIS extensions including:
  • Spatial Analyst
  • 3D Analyst
  • Network Analyst
  • Data Interoperability
• Very good working knowledge of ArcGIS Online (AGOL) and web GIS applications.
• Experience working with survey-related tools such as Survey123 and ArcGIS Collector.
• Strong understanding of GIS map production, survey standards, and cartographic principles.
• Ability to manage assigned tasks with limited supervision while maintaining high-quality outputs.

Quality, Standards & Processes

• Exposure to quality standards and global best practices (e.g. PAS 1192 or equivalent).
• Proven ability to deliver work to deadlines in pressurised environments.
• Ability to perform self-inspection and ensure accuracy and completeness of final deliverables.
• Experience working with both internal and external clients.

Automation & Advanced Skills

• Strong FME skills, including designing and implementing workbenches to:
  • Automate analysis routines
  • Convert and integrate CAD and GIS datasets
• Good working knowledge of:
  • MicroStation V8i
  • Bentley Products
  • InfraWorks
  • CityEngine

Desirable Skills

• Use of Python for automating GIS and project workflows.
• Experience deploying and configuring ArcGIS Online applications.
• Experience working with enterprise databases such as Microsoft SQL Server.
• Strong understanding and experience in process mapping and optimisation.

Collaboration & Teamwork

• Proven ability to work collaboratively within diverse and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience working within a multinational consultancy environment is desirable.
• Willingness to support and train team members or assistants in GIS techniques when required.

People & Self-Management

• Self-motivated, proactive, and keen to continuously learn new skills.
• Able to manage personal workloads, priorities, and deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Flexible and willing to apply acquired knowledge across different project areas.

Individual Attributes & Responsibilities

• With guidance from senior staff (as required), carry out assigned tasks and meet delivery targets.
• Responsibilities may include:
  • Computer-based processing of data up to CAD stage
  • Technical reporting
  • Adherence to defined QA/QC procedures
• Maintain a professional approach in all interactions.
• Complete assigned work in line with agreed schedules and quality expectations.
• Report task completion and issues to the Geospatial Analyst / Senior Geospatial Analyst.
• Contribute to a healthy and positive working environment.
• Actively participate in technical and professional training programs.

About you

• Degree or Master in GIS / Engineering or equivalent.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to articulate technical ideas clearly and concisely.
• Confident in communicating with technicians, peers, and senior staff.
• French language proficiency is an added advantage.
