Sr. Analyst, Equity Controllership- Corporate & Investment Banking

The Controllership function is responsible for the operations and controls surrounding accounting, and financial reporting of the institution. This function’s responsibilities demonstrates expertise by being able to articulate transactions, recording accounting entries, managing the general ledger and reconciliations, and interpreting and complying with technical accounting matters and financial reporting disclosure requirements. Through the Controllership function, stakeholders receive relevant insight and commentary on transaction-level and financial results for analysis and decision making. The Equities role will support Principal Trading, Futures, Equity Capital Markets and Convertible transactions. The function will work on daily P&L reporting, researching variances, working with the business to implement controls, evaluating impacts of transactions, data integrity and balance sheet substantiation, work closely with IT, Risk Management, Sales and Trading, Operations. Work with other Finance teams including Tax, Head office reporting, Compliance and legal.

  • Recommends best practices in accounting policies and processes to business lines as needed.
  • Ensures adequate controls, reporting, and documentation is maintained for supported applications.

  • Coaches and reviews work of junior level professionals as needed.

  • Influences and informs others regarding accounting policies, practices, and procedures

Education

Bachelor's Degree; Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems or a equivalent field

Master's Degree ; Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems or a equivalent field

Work Experience
1-4 Years, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar field within the Banking or Financial Services Industry

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures, including US GAAP/IFRS and regulatory reporting standards. Expertise in Equities products
  • Proficient skills in MS Office, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
  • Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business environment
  • Ability to adjust to new developments/changing circumstances.
  • Ability to influence others.
  • Ability to lead and coach junior level professionals

The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
