Johnson Controls is currently hiring for a Manager, Program Management located in our state-of-the-art R&D facility in Cranston, RI. This will be a hybrid role and will require 3 days in office and can be 2 days remote.
What you will do:
The Manager, Program Management will be responsible for leading the PMO team in coordination and execution of NPI projects. The key responsibilities include managing the day-to-day activities in the PMO, providing guidance on PMO policies and processes, overseeing project management staff, and collaborating with other department leaders to develop projects and programs. To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, be well organized, and be able to work under pressure.
How you will do it:
Lead and direct the work of the program management team.
Collaborate with other department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects.
Plan project management, including setting deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and assigning team members to various deliverables.
Analyze financial data, including project budgets, risks, and resource allocation.
Provide financial reports and budget outlines to executives.
Oversee the development of the project to ensure that team members are efficiently carrying out their tasks while upholding the company's standards.
Draft new and improve existing project management office policies and processes.
Continuously evaluate projects to ensure they meet company standards, adhere to budgets, and meet deadlines.
Accurately document the project's creation, development, and execution, as well as document the project's scope, budget, and justification.
Demonstrate the organization's values by bringing issues to the appropriate managers in a timely manner for resolution, sharing best practices among all teams, mentoring, and leading by example to support a positive work environment, and encouraging others to do the same.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders and assist them, as appropriate, with issues or concerns to satisfactory resolution.
What we look for:
Required:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering or Business.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in program management, product design, or new product introduction.
1-3 years of experience in a supervisory position.
Strong attention to detail and technicalities.
Excellent organizational and technical skills.
Product development and manufacturing business experience required (i.e., working with design engineers, manufacturing, sourcing, product management, marketing, etc.).
Ability to perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
Proven track record of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Demonstrated ability to manage product development projects to completion.
Able to deal with ambiguity and effectively cope with change, shift gears, and make decisions.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Project and Excel.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
Strong conflict management and critical thinking skills.
Knowledge of PMI's Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK®).
Preferred:
PMP® certification.
Visio experience
Fire protection industry experience.
