About the role:
Lead daily activities and assignments of the dispatch staff. Responsible for ensuring that dispatcher services for the assigned shift meet operational requirements and are following standard operating procedures. Provide guidance and leadership to all dispatchers on assigned shift. Provide and/or oversee training of dispatch staff as needed. The Lead Dispatcher interacts with NLECC Communications Center Operations Specialist (CCOS) personnel and reports directly to the Supplier’s Site Lead.
- This position operates in a 24/7 environment including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Dispatchers will work the hours and/or shifts assigned and begin and end work on time.
- All activities involve the use of computer technology, which requires a high level of accuracy, concentration, attention to detail, and multi-tasking.
Prerequisites:
- Must meet the requirements of a Dispatcher Level II. ( Twelve months total experience with entry level competencies or 2 years of LE Dispatch Experience & Must be a Dispatcher Level I or equivalent for a minimum of six (6) months).
- Must have received above average performance ratings as measured by the supplier’s performance rating system.
- Must possess a strong basic working knowledge of report writing and editing.
- Must have valid CPR Certification or be willing to obtain one immediately
What you will do:
- Conduct quality assurance reviews by monitoring real-time and recorded audio communications to assist with improving dispatcher performance and identify training needs.
- Receive and disseminate information obtained from supplier staff and callers (Emergency and/or Non-Emergency) to appropriate NLECC personnel as warranted.
- Review all incidents reports for accuracy in reporting and dissemination.
- Provide guidance to supplier staff.
- Provide all pertinent information to the incoming Lead Dispatcher.
- Perform Records Dispatcher duties as needed.
- Train Entry-Level and Level I Dispatchers.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- Be a citizen of the United States of America.
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or 2 years of relevant Law Enforcement or similar occupational experience in a Law Enforcement Command Center/Dispatch environment.
- Ability to pass a Government Security Background Investigation, including credit check, criminal background, and drug screening.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees and with clients.
- Ability to take technical direction and feedback from various sources.
- Committed to providing outstanding customer service and representation of The KACE Company in a professional manner.
- Be able to sit for an extended period of time while monitoring multiple computer monitors.
- Be able to read and comprehend the English language; including, printed regulations, written instructions, training material, etc.
- Be able to write reports, and document events in a concise and accurate manner. This includes the ability to proofread all documentation for grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Be able to provide quality customer service while communicating with internal and external parties.
- Be able to hear ordinary telephone and radio conversations with either ear.
- Be able to type a minimum of 45 words per minute (WPM).
- Be able to manage and prioritize tasks from multiple simultaneous sources (radio, telephone, alarm monitoring software, etc.).
Additional Position Requirements:
- Complete supplier provided supervisor/management class or equivalent within 90 days of assignment.
- Must be cross-trained as a Records Dispatcher and show proficiency within 90 days of advancement.
Dress and appearance standards:
- USPIS requires all personnel are required to wear nothing less formal than business casual attire as defined by:
- Pants must be slacks.
- Shirts may be polo or dress (with collar).
- Footwear must be closed toe/heel shoes; no sandals, tennis shoes or flip flops.
- Appearance must be clean and neat; torn, tattered or soiled clothing will not be permitted.
- Hats, baseball caps, bandannas are not permitted.
