Now is your opportunity to join our rapidly expanding Mechanical Products Conversion team in Rockford IL in developing high complexity mechanical equipment for some of the most advanced aircraft in the world.

As a Designer in our Product Design Definition group, you will work directly with engineering staff to produce 3-D models and 2-D layout drawings of the product to meet both engineering and customer requirements.  The individual in this role will be responsible for preparing a variety of engineering models and drawings, revising drawings and maintaining assembly parts lists. The selected candidate must be competent in aspects of mechanical engineering drawings depicting details, assemblies and outlines.

What You Will Do

  • Create solid model piece parts and housings in NX, support the move towards Model-Based Definition, direct to manufacture

  • Check drawings for accuracy, GD&T and compliance to company / industry standards

  • Responsible for learning build up and tolerance analyses for assemblies

  • Support detailed analysis of designs to understand and document manufacturing problems

  • Execute Collins Standard Work using Design Standard Features and Design Guidebook as appropriate to complete the task

  • Investigate and resolve current product design issues

  • Collaborate with our multi-national design teams around the world

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field

  • U.S. citizenship U is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract 

  • 2+ years experience with 3D models and 2D layout drawings

Qualifications We Prefer

  • STEM degree

  • Experience with GD&T

  • Experience with Siemens NX or similar CAD modeling tools

  • Knowledge of industry design documentation standards

  • Experience with Model-Based Definition

  • Checker experience

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
