PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Shipping, Preprice, & Chiller Manager provides direction and guidance to subordinate leaders dedicated to the third processing functions (shipping, preprice, and chiller) for a poultry processing/ retail packaging processing facility. This role executes long and short-term strategies and manufacturing policies and procedures to meet company objectives and customer requirements while ensuring compliance with Company policies, regulatory guidelines, and all legal requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:        

  • Oversee 3rd processing shipping, preprice and chiller operations, reviewing resource allocation on increase as needed, to ensure product is available as required and meets customer specifications and product quality standards
  • Understand Company financial objectives to support long and short-term plant financial strategies aimed to meet objectives
  • Oversee department planning systems and production scheduling to ensure achievement of output schedules to meet Company sales requirements
  • Review weekly/daily/ monthly reports, identify trends or deviations, and make necessary adjustment to meet production requirements while remaining compliant with all policies, guidelines, and legal requirements; communicate variances/ roadblocks to appropriate leaders
  • Monitor P&L/ budget and assist with annual operating budget (AOP) providing suggestions for cost savings, improvements, etc. to ensure expenditures are within company guidelines; report variances to appropriate leader
  • Identify opportunities for improvement; develop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality
  • Follow and promote all safety initiatives and guidelines including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) in all areas where required helping to maintain a zero-accident culture
  • Mentor, coach and train/cross-train employees, encouraging career development; provide consistent and timely feedback concerning strengths and opportunities for improvement
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role is a Leader of Leaders role with required competencies: Strategic Agility, Business Acumen, Building Effective Teams, Customer Focus and Command Skills

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Poultry Science, Business Administration or other related discipline from an accredited institution
    • A combination of experience and education may be substituted for the education requirement

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum three (3) years management experience supervising multiple functions; poultry processing experience preferred
  • Demonstrated minimum two (2) years’ leadership experience including knowledge of timekeeping requirements, policy adherence, successful conflict resolution with the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively
  • Experience in executing short and long term plans with the ability to implement and follow up ensuring successful adoption/ completion
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate all aspects of plant operations to maximize efficiencies of operations, margin, and profits
  • Demonstrated ability in project monitoring, follow-up and closure
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to effectively communicate, both verbal and written, with all levels of the organization and with external organizations and customers in a timely and professional manner as needed
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while maintaining a high attention to detail
  • Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative with a sense of urgency and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
  • Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work non-standard shifts including nights, weekends and holidays as needed
  • Ability to travel throughout the facility as needed
  • Ability to work in a cold, wet, and humid environment
