The Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) within Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an exceptionally talented, motivated, and creative Manager Engineering Technical Support for our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs. 

Northrop Grumman’s ATL semiconductor foundry provides unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. Our devices enable multiple generations of Northrop Grumman’s ground-based radars, avionic radars, and space systems.

The Manager Engineering Technical Support is responsible for the direct supervision of employees and processes in a Manufacturing and Test Laboratory environment. The Manager provides direction to employees utilizing management guidelines and general policies. Overall responsibilities include: driving employee efficiency, acting as a liaison between the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL) Foundry and the Programs it supports for determining staffing requirements, managing the area to produce quality products, interviewing, hiring and onboarding personnel, and engaging employees to achieve their highest potential.

The Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of approximately 17 represented (SEA union) employees and processes in a Manufacturing and Test environment. This position is for 1st shift.

The Manager is expected to work independently across organizations; Assign and manage Engineering Technicians to maximize efficiency and achieve target productive yields; implement our process improvements to improve efficiency, quality, and schedule; and perform required SAP/MES transactions to manage Engineering Technicians.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist Programs utilizing ATL Foundry personnel for support in determining technician staffing and ensuring Program policies and planned technician utilization follows the NGC-SEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Write, open, and manage job requisitions, screen candidates, conduct interviews, and hire personnel as needed to support various Program requirements within ATL and 900 International
  • Oversees the status of work in process, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that equipment, materials, and services are available, as needed
  • Assigns and manage staff to maximize efficiency and achieve schedule and target productive yields
  • Performs required SAP/MES transactions to manage personnel and planning
  • Provides specific direction and training, as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience OR Associates 7 years  (9 years of work experience in a technical role will be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, engineering environment
  • At least 2 years of experience in management or leadership of people and/or projects
  • US citizenship required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret Level Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) or Business area
  • Experience with SAP/MES, Agile, JIRA
  • Experience with ISO, LEAN/WCM, and problem-solving methodologies
  • 5 or more years of manufacturing experience
  • Prior experience working in a represented (union) environment
  • TS/SCI with CI polygraph

Salary Range: $109,800.00 - $164,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
