Tarleton State University is seeking a dedicated professional to join the Division of Student Engagement & Success as the Program Coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life, which falls under the Center for Leadership, Service & Outreach. Under the supervision of the Director of Campus Life, the Coordinator will play a vital role in the success and growth of the fraternity and sorority community.
The Program Coordinator will oversee day-to-day operations, develop student leaders, and foster a positive and engaging environment that supports the university’s mission and strategic goals. The coordinator provides service in the areas of recruitment, leadership, and service training to broaden and strengthen program goals. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate, including evenings and/or weekends. Must have the ability to work remotely at the request of the university in times of inclement weather or other special circumstances.
Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this position are broken down as follows:
· Advising Councils & Student Organizations (40%): Provide direct advising and support to one or more governing councils, including the Interfraternity Council (IFC), Panhellenic Council (CPC), InterGreek Council (IGC), as well as honor societies such as Order of Omega.
· Operations & Compliance (20%): Assist in the daily operations of Fraternity and Sorority Life, which falls under the Center for Leadership, Service & Outreach, working closely with the Director to support strategic initiatives. Maintain fraternity and sorority membership rosters, statistics, and records to ensure accuracy and compliance with university policies.
· Leadership Development & Programming (20%): Plan, coordinate, and assess leadership development programs pertaining to FSL, workshops, and retreats for fraternity and sorority members. Collaborate with campus partners and national organizations to enhance student engagement and leadership opportunities.
· Recruitment & Risk Management (15%): Assist in implementing and evaluating recruitment and intake processes, ensuring adherence to university policies and national organizational standards. Support risk management education and compliance initiatives for the fraternity and sorority community.
· Other Duties (5%): Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the Center for Leadership, Service & Outreach at Tarleton State University.
Oversee communication efforts, including website updates and social media content, to promote fraternity and sorority life at Tarleton State.
Required Education & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in student affairs, higher education, or a related field.
· Three years of experience in student affairs, preferably in fraternity and sorority life. No experience required for candidates with a master’s degree.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Strong understanding of fraternity and sorority life, including council operations and chapter management.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong event planning, organization, and project management skills.
· Ability to multitask, work collaboratively with various stakeholders, and support student development.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, and database applications.
Preferred Qualifications
· A master’s degree is preferred.
· Membership in a fraternity or sorority.
· Experience advising student organizations, councils, or chapters in a university setting.
· Knowledge of formal recruitment, membership intake, and risk management processes.
· Experience facilitating leadership development programs for students.
Supervision
· May supervise student workers, graduate assistants, and/or student council presidents.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Salary Range:
The target base annual salary range is $47,000 to $61,940.50 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
