As Director, Data Cloud Software you will lead multiple Cloud software development teams in the delivery of Omnipod device and data solutions. Our device solutions secure and simplify use of our insulin pumps. Data solutions provide access to insights that improve therapy. We are scaling our team and architecture to exceed the continued expansion of Omnipod, providing services that support our medical devices, mobile applications, partner integrations, and data analytics. In this role, you will partner with teams, both local and abroad, to build world class medical device software. You will be responsible for leading execution, developing talent, evaluating technologies, and setting a strategic vision that aligns with Insulet goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team of Engineering Leads, Product Management, Systems Engineers, and Project Management to deliver high-quality solutions to improve the lives of people living with diabetes
  • Develop and drive a clear strategic roadmap of initiatives that improve the scalability, reliability, and resiliency of APIs and solutions 
  • Lead and manage a large team of engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.  
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.  
  • Manage and prioritize the budget, resources, and timelines to ensure successful team execution.
  • Drive the team to meet critical Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing requirements across all deliverables

Education and Experience:

  • Requires a BS degree, minimum, and 10+ years leading a software development organization, preferably in Cloud software and/or Medical Device software
  • Experience with big data or IoT architectures a plus

Required Skills and Competencies:          

  • Demonstrated success in driving improvements in Cloud software development
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and architectural patterns to provide optimal solution strategies
  • Strong understanding of Cloud architectural patterns and design
  • Strong verbal and written communication tools, able to communicate at multiple levels of an organization.  
  • A passionate, inspirational leader who leads with an enterprise mindset, challenges the status quo, and can align their organization behind a clear vision and strategy.  
  • Has strong emotional intelligence and ability to engage and lead others through change to advance new ways of working.  
  • Experience building high performance teams, driving accountability, empowerment, customer centricity and collaboration across functions and teams.  
  • Talent leader with demonstrated success attracting, growing, and developing talent.
  • Experience leading Agile software development
  • Experience building distributed architectures and data streaming/processing
  • Experience building AWS solutions, e.g. API Gateway, ECS, EKS, Kinesis, SQS, Lambda
  • Demonstrated experience with FDA and data privacy regulations a plus

Physical Requirements (if applicable):

  • It is expected that you are able to travel to Insulet’s San Diego (CA), Acton (MA) or Tijuana (MX) offices at least twice per quarter to support critical planning and executive coordination activities.  
  • Off-hour availability for critical issues

Additional Information:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $187,220.00 - $281,270.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
