This role is home based with travel to sites across the UK.

What will this role achieve?

• Responsible for the implementation of the Health, Safety, Environmental & Security (HSES) strategy for the pladis UK&I business, playing a key role in its development and ensuring that it meets all in country legal requirements, in order to deliver the safest workplaces possible and the development of a safety culture.   
• Responsible for the positive promotion of the HSES agenda at all levels across the business, through the development and management of best practice for all manufacturing and non-manufacturing sites within the geographical remit.  
• Responsible for working with the global SQSE community to align on HSES strategy across the pladis business and for providing competent advice and support in all areas of expertise. 

What will be your key deliverables?

• Defines best practice with respect to Health, Safety, Environment and Security matters.  
• Drives compliance, standardisation, consistency and alignment across all sites.  
• Ensures teams have robust actions plans in place that are well executed by working with leadership teams to challenge, review and risk assess the plans and ways of working   
• Identify, develop and implement continuous improvements in performance. Set the measurements of continuous performance through determining Key Performance Indicators (e.g. LTAs, accident management, audit compliance, claims management).  
• Support the development of the Group HSES strategies and implement these in UK&I region.  
• Maintains an awareness of industry developments in HSES and integrates into company processes where relevant.  
• Reviews and interprets legislative changes and liaises with regulatory health, safety and environmental authorities.  
• Provides consultancy and expert guidance in investigations, incidents and crises as appropriate.  
• Consults sites in preparation for external audits and prioritises appropriate central resource where necessary.  
• Delivers specific HSES projects.  
• Drives sites to adopt best practices and standard ways of working for the business.  
• Manages the Group HSES Capital allocation and spend to drive significant reduction in Business risk.  
• Coaches and advises sites in the implementation of robust HSES initiatives.  
• Ensures training meets the requirements of the HSES plan.  
• Coaches and develops the central and site advisors to build the team capability across the business.  
• Manages the company Employers Liability claims process ensuring consistent approach to meet our legal requirements 

Bring your experience.

Essential

• Qualified and expert knowledge of legislation, regulations, standards and practices  

• Minimum of 5 years HSE experience within a similar business  

• Confident with use of IT  

• Clean driving licence  

• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety  

• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) in Environmental Management  

• CMIOSH (Chartered Member of Institute of Occupational Safety & Health) qualified HS&E practitioner with suitable experience of working in role  

Desirable

• Experience in training  

• Multiple site experience  

• Previous line management experience 
• Degree in Occupational Health & Safety & Environment  

• Formal auditing qualification (ideally OHSAS or ISO Lead Auditor) 

What will the interview process be?

• 1st stage interview – 45 minutes competency-based interview based on our company values and your experiences.
• 2nd stage interview – 60 minutes – a technical interview to understand your skill set/case study or presentation interview.
• Final interview based on Leadership Success Model Assessment/role competencies.
