This role is for someone who sits comfortably between strategy and execution - able to zoom out to understand why people behave the way they do, and then zoom right back in to design where, when, and how brands show up across the customer journey. If that way of thinking feels natural - and you enjoy turning insight into clear direction, and direction into action - this role is likely your sweet spot.
As a Performance & Growth Strategist, you’ll operate across Digital Media, SEO, Customer Journey Mapping, CVM, CRO and Measurement. You'll be expected to connect the dots across the full performance marketing discipline - working closely with channel specialists and the wider Creative Agency to orchestrate journeys users actually move through. You’ll be trusted to think independently, guide others decisively, and maintain strategic integrity across multiple clients and workstreams.
In short: this is a role for someone who wants to become well-rounded, think end-to-end, and drive meaningful impact across a diverse suite of clients - while playing a pivotal role in shaping how performance strategy is practiced within the team.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Performance Direction & Strategic Framing
· Set the overarching performance direction across paid media, SEO, CRO and lifecycle touchpoints - grounded in business objectives, not isolated channel KPIs.
· Translate complex briefs, business challenges, and audience insight into clear strategic intent, frameworks, and activation principles.
· Anchor go-to-market planning, audience prioritisation, and funnel design across the full customer lifecycle, ensuring strategic coherence from acquisition through retention.
Orchestration Across Performance Marketing Functions
· Take ownership of the overall performance direction across paid media, SEO, CVM, and measurement - ensuring all specialist outputs align to a clear strategic intent.
· Orchestrate and collaborate closely with specialists across disciplines, actively challenging, stress-testing, and refining their thinking to raise the quality of outcomes.
· Provide clear strategic guidance across (amongst others) media planning, audience strategy, keyword intent mapping, journey logic, and testing roadmaps - balancing specialist autonomy with decisive direction and accountability.
· Act as the point of strategic arbitration when trade-offs arise across channels, timelines, or objectives - ensuring decisions serve the broader performance goal.
· Support the Head of Performance in steering team priorities, shaping delivery approaches, and maintaining quality and consistency across accounts.
Insights, Measurement & Storytelling
· Turn complex data into clear insights and client-ready stories that drive action.
· Analyse performance data across platforms to identify patterns, opportunities, and points of friction within the broader customer journey.
· Partner with data and analytics teams to define meaningful KPIs, measurement frameworks, and reporting narratives that support decision-making. Note, technical literacy required across tracking and measurement fundamentals.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
· ±7 years’ experience in digital marketing, consulting, or agency environments – mandatory.
· Exposure and comfort across all functions within Performance Marketing – Digital Media, SEO, Measurement, CRO and CVM being mandatory.
· Strong strategic thinking, paired with enough technical understanding to validate strategy against technical reality.
· Demonstrated technical rigor and hands-on familiarity with core performance and insight tools (i.e., DSPs, Audience Research platforms, Analytic Suites, etc.).
· Ability to structure thinking clearly and tell a compelling, intuitive narrative.
· Comfortable acting as a senior partner to both clients and internal teams.
· Deeply curious by nature; opinionated once informed.
· Enjoys complexity, but obsessed with clarity.
· Collaborative and grounded
· A Marketing or Commerce-relevant tertiary qualification
