Capital Area Head Start is seeking a full time Director of Operations and Health Services to join our mission of making a difference in the lives of children and empowering and strengthening families.

The Director of Operations and Health Services is dual faceted, managing program operations and the delivery of high-quality child health services. This position aligns departmental goals with the agency’s strategic plan, focuses on continuous improvement, and ensures excellence across both operational and health service delivery.

Responsibilities Include:

Operational

  • Oversee facilities and maintenance across multiple centers, including supervision of staff and capital projects.
  • Manage leases, contracts, agreements, and RFAs, while providing fiscal oversight of a multi-million-dollar budget supported by diverse funding streams.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations, maintain safe and efficient operations, and serve as a key member of the leadership team.

Health Services

  • Develop systems to monitor compliance with health requirements.
  • Support staff in developing care plans, manage health-related cases, and implement service procedure updates.
  • Oversee training and development, partnership building, contract renewals with health providers and community partners.
  • Supervise staff, provide mentoring, coaching, and guidance to ensure excellence across both health and operational service delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in related field
  • Four years of supervisory experience
  • Intermediate computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and learn web based systems
  • Valid driver’s license and access to properly insured vehicle, or public transportation
  • Successful completion of pre-employment process, including Criminal History, MVR, Child Abuse and FBI clearances
  • Experience in Head Start or Early Head Start is preferred
