Job Summary

Responsible for working with the business senior leadership team, Human Resources and Marketing and Communications to develop communication materials for projects and initiatives that ensure solutions are on message, consistent in quality and delivery, and tie-in with the overall strategic message of the business. Assist in developing strategic direction and overall communications with business partners.

 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Develops communications strategies and plans that are consistent with business goals and support the delivery of measurable results. Reviews and approves all implementation components of any approved communications initiatives.
  • Attends business meetings and strategic planning sessions to understand the varied and complex communications needs of the business. Responds to questions and requests and provides information regarding current and potential processes and messaging vehicles.
  • Maintains current and accurate documentation, and coordinates and/or performs testing of new and/or exploratory communications vehicles. Works with other communications team members in developing and identifying resources.
  • Develops action plans for project review and deliverable timelines. Participates in meetings for ongoing content review and editing with subject matter experts and business leadership teams.
  • Creates and maintains up-to-date status reports for all projects. Creates and maintains wrap-up and executive summary reports that provide measurement analyses and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Serves as the principal communications lead and project manager for all communications related deliverables in support of business objectives.
  • Acts as liaison with outside vendors and agencies as appropriate.

Nature and Scope

  • Solutions require analysis and investigation.
  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience. May recommend/make decisions regarding new programs/initiatives that have significant impact to the business and carry consequences in unsuccessful endeavors.
  • Manages a larger team or multiple small teams through direction of subordinate management and/or supervisory staff.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Typically requires overnight travel 20% to 50% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
