Job Description:

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology

Technology is at the heart of Disney’s past, present, and future. Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is a global organization of engineers, product developers, designers, technologists, data scientists, and more – all working to build and advance the technological backbone for Disney’s media business globally.

The team marries technology with creativity to build world-class products, enhance storytelling, and drive velocity, innovation, and scalability for our businesses. We are Storytellers and Innovators. Creators and Builders. Entertainers and Engineers. We work with every part of The Walt Disney Company’s media portfolio to advance the technological foundation and consumer media touch points serving millions of people around the world.

Here are a few reasons why we think you’d love working here:

Building the future of Disney’s media: Our Technologists are designing and building the products and platforms that will power our media, advertising, and distribution businesses for years to come.

Reach, Scale & Impact: More than ever, Disney’s technology and products serve as a signature doorway for fans' connections with the company’s brands and stories. Disney+. Hulu. ESPN. ABC. ABC News…and many more. These products and brands – and the unmatched stories, storytellers, and events they carry – matter to millions of people globally.

Innovation: We develop and implement groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms, and solve complex and distinctive technical problems.

Ad Platforms is responsible for Disney’s industry-leading ad technology and products – driving advertising performance, innovation, and value in Disney’s sports, news, and entertainment content, across all media platforms.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an execution-focused Product Owner to support our Financial Systems. This role is responsible for translating product direction into clear, actionable requirements and ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery across engineering squads. The ideal candidate thrives in structured, documentation-driven environments and partners closely with engineering to drive revenue recognition and billing workflows from concept through release.

This role is optimized for delivery ownership and execution excellence, rather than upfront product strategy definition, and plays a critical role in enabling scale, reliability, and operational efficiency across order management tooling.

Responsibilities:

● Own backlog execution for financial systems, ensuring work is clearly defined, prioritized, and ready for development.

● Translate product intent and high-level requirements into well-structured user stories, epics, and tasks with clear acceptance criteria.

● Partner closely with engineering to clarify requirements, answer questions, and unblock delivery throughout the sprint lifecycle.

● Ensure delivered functionality meets quality, performance, and operational expectations before release.

● Serve as the primary Product Owner for assigned engineering squads, participating in sprint planning, backlog grooming, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.

● Maintain a clean, prioritized, and execution-ready backlog aligned to agreed-upon delivery goals.

● Proactively identify scope gaps, dependency risks, and delivery tradeoffs and surface them early.

● Produce and maintain detailed product documentation in tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Miro, and Airtable.

● Ensure requirements, workflows, edge cases, and assumptions are explicitly documented and kept up to date.

● Support cross-team clarity by creating artifacts such as process flows, automation diagrams, and release notes.

● Act as a connective layer between Product Management, Engineering, QA, Tech Ops, and other stakeholders to ensure shared understanding of requirements and timelines.

Basic Qualifications:

● 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or delivery-focused Product role within a technology organization.

● Strong experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, with hands-on ownership of sprint backlogs.

● Demonstrated ability to write clear, detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.

● Strong data and data analysis skills. Ability to work with data/SQL and strong Excel skills.

● Highly detail-oriented with a strong appreciation for structure, documentation, and process rigor.

● Proficiency with JIRA and Confluence; experience with Miro, Airtable, or similar tooling strongly preferred.

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when collaborating with engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Experience with Accounting/Finance software products with direct experience in building Accounting related products.

● Familiarity with ad tech or large-scale platform environments.

● Comfort operating in complex, multi-team ecosystems with dependencies and phased delivery.

● Experience working with distributed or offshore engineering teams.
