The Opportunity
This position works out of our Temecula, CA location in the AVD division. Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for the treatment of vascular disease.
Job Summary
The Supply Planner manages production planning for their assigned product(s). Position will be responsible for translating commercial demand and inventory strategies/targets into effective supply plans. Supply Planner will manage production plans that span multiple plants. Incumbent will be required to coordinate with Demand Planning, Operations and other planners to resolve plant scheduling conflicts and capacity constraints. The Supply Planner is primarily focused on the next 24 months horizon. Incumbent is expected to work independently, with regular support from department management supervision.
What You’ll Work On
- Maintain internal and external customer service levels for products.
- Analyze plant throughput within customer service, capacity, efficiency, and inventory plan framework.
- Assist Program and Project management groups, project activity and schedule of new products, new processes, etc.
- Develop production plans for Plan and Update packages.
- Participate in decision-making meetings on plant manpower loading and/or premium labor (overtime-contract labor).
- Work directly with plants to perform Rough Cut Capacity Planning in support of 24 month planning horizon.
- Present at monthly meetings with plant and division operations to review and implement operations strategies.
- Understands business environment and relates extensive knowledge of internal and external activities to trends.
- Interfaces with a variety of management levels on significant matters, often requiring the coordination of activity across organizational units.
- Participates in the development of others by facilitating training and providing feedback and guidance.
- May lead a project team.
- Provides technical leadership to business units.
- Acts as a mentor to less-experienced staff.
- Exercises judgment independently. (Planning/Organization) Plans and organizes project assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
- Initiates or maintains schedule for projects and project milestones.
- Establishes priorities of individual or project assignments.
- Selects methods and techniques to lead a project to completion.
- Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve organizational objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain or Business Management or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- 2 years of relevant work experience or exposure within a regulated environment to sufficiently demonstrate the core job responsibilities of the position
- Prefer business experience in: Master Production Scheduling, Materials Requirement Planning, Capacity Planning, Demand Planning, Inventory Management, Supply Chain Management, Supply Planning, Lean and Six Sigma, S&OP Process
- Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving/ critical-thinking skills
- Ability and aptitude to use various types of databases and other computer software
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability and aptitude to provide solutions and contingency plans through the comprehensive review of alternatives
