Job Description

How This Role Impacts Live Oak and its People

Live Oak is on a mission to be America’s small business bank, delivering modern financial services that meet customers where they work. As the Director-Embedded Banking Sales for Live Oak Embedded Banking, you will be a senior revenue leader responsible for building and leading a high-output, energized sales organization while driving new partner acquisition and accelerating growth across our embedded banking platform.

This is a highly strategic, quota-carrying leadership role designed for a proven sales leader who builds winning teams, consistently beats targets, and thrives in complex, consultative sales environments. You will own all aspects of the sales team — from talent development and culture to pipeline management and deal execution — partnering closely with product, engineering, and risk teams to bring modern banking capabilities directly into vertical SaaS platforms. (Position includes base + commission.)

What You’ll Do at Live Oak

Drive revenue and close deals

  • Own a quota and consistently deliver against embedded banking revenue targets

  • Source, qualify, and close new embedded banking partnerships with vertical SaaS platforms, fintechs, and ecosystem partners

  • Lead end-to-end sales cycles, from prospecting and discovery through negotiation, contracting, and launch

Build and lead a high-output sales organization

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop a high-performing, energized embedded banking sales team

  • Set team targets, manage performance, and hold the organization accountable to results through clear metrics and coaching

  • Foster a culture of urgency, accountability, and continuous improvement that attracts top sales talent

  • Manage all aspects of sales operations including territory planning, forecasting, compensation design, and CRM governance

  • Define and execute the go-to-market sales strategy, working with senior leadership to align on priorities and resource allocation

Sell value, not just product

  • Run high-impact discovery conversations that uncover partner pain points, growth goals, and monetization opportunities

  • Collaborate closely with prospective partners to design solutions aligned to their workflows, customer journeys, and business models

  • Lead and coordinate customized demos, proof of concepts (POCs), and pilot programs that clearly demonstrate business value and technical feasibility

  • Position Live Oak’s embedded banking capabilities as a strategic growth lever, not just a technical integration

Partner cross-functionally to win and launch

  • Work closely with Solutions Engineering, Product, Risk, Compliance, and Legal to move deals forward efficiently

  • Help shape deal structures, pricing, and economics that align partner value with Live Oak’s risk and operating model

  • Ensure smooth handoff from closed deal to implementation with clear success criteria

Build the pipeline and the brand

  • Maintain a healthy, high-quality pipeline through outbound prospecting, referrals, and ecosystem relationships

  • Represent Live Oak Embedded Banking at industry events, conferences, and partner meetings

  • Provide market feedback to inform product roadmap and go-to-market strategy

  • Maintain a high standard of regulatory awareness including BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC

Required Experience

  • 12–15+ years of progressive sales or business development experience, including demonstrated success building and leading high-performing sales teams with a track record of consistently beating quota

  • Demonstrated experience managing all aspects of a sales organization, including hiring, performance management, compensation, forecasting, and culture-building

  • Proven experience selling software or platform solutions to vertical SaaS companies

  • Experience selling to banks and/or operating in highly regulated financial environments

  • Deep understanding of banking and technology, including APIs, onboarding/KYC/KYB, funds flow, and compliance

  • Strong negotiation skills and comfort closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals

  • Exceptional communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in embedded banking, BaaS, or embedded finance

  • Background selling enterprise or platform software tied to SMB customers

  • Familiarity with sponsor bank models and third-party risk management

  • Existing relationships within fintech, SaaS, or banking ecosystems

Our Values

  • Dedication: Possess a deep commitment to Live Oak Bank’s mission and core values, exemplified through a strong work ethic, adaptability and pride in your work.

  • Ownership: Take initiative to deliver positive results by proactively and creatively solving problems, while maintaining a high degree of quality.

  • Respect: Treat everyone with courtesy, politeness, and kindness.

  • Innovation: Embrace fresh ideas and fearlessly contribute new solutions to emerging or existing problems.

  • Teamwork: Foster collaboration, accountability, and trust with others and understand that together, we do more
