The Security Specialist IV will maintain the overall safety and security within the agency and assist in the timely dissemination of security information throughout all departments. This position requires a higher level of expertise and experience in security procedures and protocols. This position will report on-site in the Germantown, MD or Washington, D.C. area.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develops and implements comprehensive security procedures and protocols to ensure compliance with all security directives.
Oversees the training of all Federal and Contractor employees on security procedures and maintains accurate training records.
Maintains an up-to-date authorized classifiers and de-classifiers listing.
Prepares and submits requests for deviations to security directives, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained.
Leads the preparation of a facility security plan and coordinates initial visits by the Security Team.
Conducts regular self-assessments of all applicable program elements to identify and address any security vulnerabilities.
Manages the control and management of Limited or Vault Type Rooms, including access authorizations and registration processes.
Oversees the control and handling of classified material, ensuring proper procedures are followed.
Reviews and approves classified visits, foreign visits and assignments, and foreign travel requests.
Investigates, tracks, and reports Federal and Contractor staff security infractions.
Ensures escorts are properly trained and performing their duties effectively.
Monitors and tracks Federal compliance with security training, including the Annual Security Refresher Briefing.
Represents the agency in all security-related meetings and provides updates on security initiatives and compliance.
Assists with the inventory and control of security facilities and equipment, including Limited/Vault type rooms, containers, copiers, computers, VTC systems, facsimiles, and shredders.
Oversees the in and out processing of staff, including initiating security clearances and badges.
Administers the electronic questionnaire for security clearances and provides follow-up as needed.
Manages FACTS data entry for Foreign National Unclassified Visits and assignments.
Reviews clearance-related forms completed by employees for completeness and accuracy.
Coordinates the acquisition, turn-in, debriefing, and termination of security badges.
Provides guidance and support to lower-level security specialists as needed.
May assume a Team Lead role for the work group which encompasses training and mentoring junior personnel. May perform personnel responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study and a minimum of seven (7) years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.

The estimated pay range for this role is $90K to $100K, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
