This Project Manager for New Products and Existing product reports directly to the Meters – Registers Business Line Leader. They co-ordinate the development, launch, and commercialization of new meter and register products. Additionally, they co-ordinate the larger maintenance in improvement projects for existing products.

This project manager is a key member of the Business Line Leadership team interacts with both development team members and the Senior Leadership team at AFS. They work closely with the technical details of a project and with end-users and channel partners for the projects in the Oil, Gas, and Emerging Energy markets.

Responsibilities: 

  • Build culture of Customer Centricity

    • Lead by example. Promote the IDEX values of Great Teams, Customer Obsession, and Market Focus through 80:20 with both the Development team and other cross-functional team members.

    • Lead and coach team members on how to build and follow project plans including collaboration with end-users, distribution, and OEM partnerships involved in the research, development, launch, and commercialization stage-gate process.

    • Collaborate with Product Management, and Development, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, Marketing and Sales teams to drive efficiency working through the innovation and stage gate processes while implementing Project Management best practices.

    • Build a culture of “Innovation”, “Managed Urgency”, “Critical Path Management” and “Customer Focus”.

    • Build working relationships with cross-functional peers.

    • Demonstrate that you are a “student of the game” by implementing industry best practices and PMBOK implementation.

  • Focus on and deliver results

    • Manage 3 to 4 active New Product Development (NPD) projects and 3 or 4 In-Life Product Revision projects worked on by a team of 9 or more engineers across the disciples of Software, Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems engineering.

    • Partner with Engineering Director, Marketing Manager, Quality Director, and Manufacturing Managers to manage the integration of Engineering Research, Development, Testing, Rollout and Launch with the cross functional teams of Marketing, Sales, Quality, and Manufacturing.

    • Support Business Line Leaders by developing project plans, product road maps, effort estimates, and tracking and reporting monthly KPI results.

    • Partner with Product Manager to clarify Product Requirements, Business Case time and resource estimates, Road Maps, and Project Schedules.

    • Host and present at month Business Unit Project review and at Product Team daily management meetings.

    • Use project management software tools and coach team members toward best practices.

  • Build market expertise

    • Build knowledge of the Oil, Gas, and Emerging energy markets by participating in professional groups.

    • Continue to build project management and stage-gate expertise through professional organizations and bubble projects.

    • Build understanding of AFS product solutions and value they deliver to end-users.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering (preferred fields: Software, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Integrated Systems) or equivalent work experience

  • 7+ Years Successful Experience NPD Project Management in Business-to-Business Environment

  • 7+ Years working with cross-functional teams for development, launch, and commercialization

  • 5+ Years of experience marketing in Oil, Gas, Emerging Energy (or similar industry)

  • 5+ Years of experience applying 80:20 focus project resources

  • Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) Certification

  • Effective communication skills, (verbal, written, and electronic)

  • Strong coaching and training ability

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

Additional Qualifications:  

  • Experience developing industrial meters, registers, pumps, compressors

  • Excellent organization, communication, and follow-through skills 

  • Strong ability to prioritize and multitask 

  • Self-directed and with ability to act quickly in ambiguous situations 

  • Problem solving abilities 

Supervisory Responsibility

Does not manage direct reports. Manages project with teams of 15 or more members.
 

Work Environment

Exposure to manufacturing environment. Noise level may vary from moderate office environment to noisy/loud in the plant area.  Proper use of safety equipment such as steel-toed shoes, goggles, safety glasses, gloves, apron, and face shield must be observed.

Travel = 50% Travel typically in the United States
