The Compliance Analyst serves as a trusted partner to internal clients by ensuring that Assurant and its clients have appropriate processes and methods to effectively comply with applicable laws, federal and state regulations, and internal policies, thereby reducing the companies’ risk and exposure to potential losses. Results are summarized and provided to the Business and to Clients on a periodic basis to demonstrate compliance with government regulatory agency requirements, contracts, agreements and/or standards. This is a remote opportunity.

What will my duties and responsibilities be in this job?

  • Responsible for researching, development and performing compliance reviews based upon client, regulatory and internal requirements.  Includes analysis of records, reports, regulations and operating procedures and practices.

  • Provide corresponding reporting for Operations and Clients.

  • Analyze records, reports, regulations and operating practices and issues reports on regulatory control adherence.

  • Participate on special projects and targeted reviews as required.

  • Perform testing for new systems and system controls.

  • Conduct quality compliance reviews on peers.

  • Responsible for the performance of quantitative and qualitative research to further support review findings, including root cause analysis.

  • Review Business controls, policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. 

  • Participate in client teleconferences where regulatory controls are reviewed.

  • Creates reports and trending analysis and presents final review findings to Operations.

  • Effectively communicates regulatory issues to Operations to ensure process compliance and adherence.

  • Conduct associate training.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • A minimum of 4 years of progressive work experience in operational compliance or audit experience.

  • A minimum of 4 years of insurance, claims, or service contract experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience utilizing data analysis and improvement tools

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results through working cross-functionally, influencing others, making timely decisions while considering needed trade-offs, negotiating conflicts, as needed.

  • Strong problem-solving ability and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and align activities and priorities to meet organizational goals.

  • Experience collaborating with and influencing colleagues across business functions.

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)

  • Green Belt training or experience with structured process improvement skills

  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to drive execution and meet stated deadlines.

  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business and technical environment.

  • Possess advanced analytical, data management, and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to use MS Excel to enter and correct data, modify a workbook, format a worksheet, format charts, filter dates, and create basic formulas for data trending.

  • Ability to use MS Word for basic formatting, editing, and printing function and understands the document page set up.

  • Able to implement a review, collect and verify review evidence, assist with preparation of preliminary and final reports, and write work papers to summarize findings.

  • Demonstrated problem resolution skills.

  • Demonstrated understanding of regulatory compliance governing the mortgage, insurance claims, auto claims and/or financial services (is a plus)

What are the working conditions and physical requirements of this job?  

This position requires incumbents to regularly sit at a desk and operate standard office equipment such as a computer and phone.  Employee is occasionally required to stand and walk, lift, carry and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.  Must be able to talk and hear.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Pay Range:

$53,700.00 - $89,900.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
