See yourself in our team

Small Business Banking (SBB) sits at the intersection of Retail and Business Bank. We support small business customers across the Group through our home lending, digital channels, and contact and operations centres. SBB represents a significant part of Business Banking’s customer base, reflecting the fact that the vast majority of Australian businesses are small businesses.

Asset Finance is a core specialist capability within CBA’s Business Lending portfolio, supporting SBB customers across Australia to invest in income‑producing assets. We help customers finance new or used assets, upgrade equipment or vehicles, secure loans against assets, and access flexible repayment options — delivered efficiently and consistently at scale.

Do work that matters

Reporting to the Executive Manager, Asset Finance, the purpose of this role is to generate asset finance opportunities with existing and new‑to‑bank small business customers across a broad range of asset classes. You’ll build and execute proactive sales strategies that grow market share, working closely with SBB bankers and channels (including broker and specialist pathways) to convert customer needs into funded outcomes.

This role is based in New South Wales.

More specifically, you will:

  • Provide specialist support to customers where capital assets are critical to running and growing their business (e.g. vehicles, light commercial equipment, fit‑outs, technology, medical equipment, construction/trade equipment and fleet). Structure solutions to minimise upfront outlay, align repayments to cash flow and provide flexibility across the asset lifecycle.

  • Develop strong working relationships with SBB bankers and frontline teams to identify opportunities early through needs‑based conversations and referrals, and to progress deals efficiently end‑to‑end.

  • Uplift capability across the SBB frontline through regular coaching, team huddles and targeted training on asset finance solutions and opportunity spotting.

  • Support customers and bankers to navigate relevant considerations (including depreciation concepts, asset/security details, and structuring options), in line with CBA asset finance policies and applicable requirements.

  • Regularly review how customers bank with CBA to uncover growth opportunities (e.g. identifying split banking or customers funding assets elsewhere).

  • Drive new‑to‑bank opportunities by building networks, activating referrals and proactively engaging prospective customers, with a strong focus on customer outcomes and sustainable growth

  • Follow up and progress opportunities by providing pricing/structuring support and partnering with the Asset Finance Centre & Operations to complete documentation and gather required information (e.g. supplier details, proof of insurance, ownership/title requirements).

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Strong customer and commercial acumen — you understand your market, what drives small business customer needs, and the competitive landscape

  • Confidence communicating with customers and stakeholders (written and verbal), with the ability to influence and bring others on the journey

  • A solid understanding of the sales cycle and the discipline to convert enquiries into settled outcomes

  • Experience in a business‑to‑business / business banking environment, with foundational understanding of cash flow, working capital and business financial drivers

  • Working knowledge of asset finance solutions (bank or non‑bank), and how asset investment impacts business cash flow and productivity

  • A strong Risk Mindset — proactively identifying and managing current and emerging risks as part of everyday decision‑making
