The Opportunity | Sr. Manufacturing Tech / Millwright - 2nd Shift
With our continuing growth, Curtiss Wright is looking to add Sr Manufacturing Technician/Millwright to our 2nd shift at our new, state-of-the-art Summerville, SC (Charleston) facility!
These key contributors will perform all necessary assembly, sub-assembly, small machining, test, fit and disassemble assemblies or sub-assemblies including but not limited to main steam turbines, valves, compressors, experimental work, part alterations and repairs.
This is a great opportunity for those with a strong machining background to join CW’s efforts to support the United States Navy and commercial customers.

Your Challenge:
Read and interpret written and verbal work instructions, utilizing detailed part and tool drawings.
Operate machining tools such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, presses, and other small machines to complete assigned work.
Set-up work areas and machines to perform required assembly operations for assigned work.
Obtain all tools, fixtures and relocation of equipment to perform assembly work.
Fit, scrape, adjust, lap, paint, set final dimensions on air gaps, bearings and seals, finish and assemble components into final assemblies, or subassemblies as required.
Follow established operational procedures to perform all functions such as assembly, machine, balance, rivet, etc.; including all functions to test products including product alignment, temporary supply piping for steam, water, oil and wire electrical equipment to control and monitor product testing as required.
Work to close tolerances on interrelated dimensions.
Determine the need for inspection to check fits, clearances, etc. prior to, during and after assembly. Notify inspectors as required.
Train less experienced personnel
Check work and record dimensions or characteristics as required.
Report defective material and equipment to supervision.
Keep work area neat and clean, observe all safety and hygiene requirements as specified or directed.
Will work with materials such as oil, water, steam, various component parts, various sub-assembly parts, subassemblies and assemblies, castings, gaskets, sealing compounds, thread lubricant, abrasives, bolts, balance scales, calipers, nuts, alcohol, gas, etc.
Your Expertise:
Ability to operate machine tools such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, presses, heating equipment, mechanical precision measurements, gauges, hand power tools, machinist tools, scrapers, files, torches, meggers, vacuum and flushing equipment, ultrasonic cleaners, hydraulic equipment, low speed balance machine, small machines, hydraulic ram press type machines, riveters, air leakage testing equipment, valve seat lapping, reamers, dial indicators alignment equipment, walk behind and sit down fork trucks as required.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, layout and process worksheets
Experience working with bench and hand tools such as: wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, files, power tools, grinders, reamers, drifts, etc.
Experience with manometers, tachometers, gages, fittings, pumps, clamps, jib hoist, floor operated crane, bridge crane, etc.
Ability to operate manlift
Ability to operate micrometers and other similar measuring instruments, dyneometer, acetylene and or gas heating equipment, etc.
Must demonstrate basic knowledge, skills and abilities related to assembly work and machining
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Must be a Sole US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance
