Job Description

The Senior Project Administrator I, under general supervision, independently coordinates complex administrative and financial details between The Texas A&M University System, researchers, sponsors and administrative offices with an emphasis on post-award administration of sponsored research projects. Establishes accounts in the A&M System accounting system. Reviews and interprets award terms and conditions, cost sharing requirements, award budget, sponsor regulations, deliverable requirements and System policies. Prepares award notices; trains and mentors staff; and assists management with policy and procedure changes.

This is an in-office position located in Stephenville, Texas. Standard work hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, or as work requirements indicate. Must be able to work remotely at the request of the University.

Responsibilities:

35% Assists with the management of grants and contracts for TIAER, including reviewing budgets, account expenses, preparing invoices, and assisting project managers with analysis of accounts -

25% Responsible for monthly payroll including employee allocations, coordinating with project managers for accuracy, entering salaries into TIAER accounting software and maintaining database for Time and Effort. -

20% Reconciles monthly financial reports from FAMIS to TIAER accounting system and prepare financial reports. Works with Business Services on account and budget corrections. -

8% Reviews TIAER purchases for accuracy and compliance on TIAER grants and contracts. Understands purchasing procedures and guidelines. -

5% Performs other duties and tasks as assigned - Special Projects. -

5% Coordinates and prepares documents related to personnel matters for TIAER. -

2% Responsible for maintenance of accounting software; including troubleshooting, interaction with vendor, installing updates, and creating reports.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four years of experience in a university setting or business environment. Experience in sponsored research projects management and/or accounting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Verbal and written communication skills. Organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and proofreading skills. -Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Salary:

Commensurate with experience

The target base annual salary is commensurate with experience and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
