Contra Controls Manager

Job Summary
• This role is responsible for managing a diverse team supporting large and complex business units or finance functions. The role is accountable for large multi-department area(s) or location(s) with significant impact on business unit results and organizational strategy. The role serves as a key advisor to senior management, analyzing financial results, and providing strategic recommendations. The role collaborates with the leadership as a strategic partner and also drives talent management activities.

Responsibilities

1) Lead the design, development, and implementation of an optimized end-to-end control framework for Contra Accruals SOX purposes:

  • Design the right level of precision of the control while optimizing the operational execution process.

  • Design the detailed scope and risk assessment of IT and non-IT dependency on contra accrual mechanism  

  • Close collaboration with multiple internal & external stakeholders (Internal Audit, Controls and Compliance Hub, Contra Design, Market Finance, IT, E&Y, Deloitte)

2) Foster transformation and knowledge sharing

  • Manage the optimization and standardization of contra controls at market level

  • Actively participate in the purple project to assess the process changes and provide feedback to design/market finance team.

  • Manage team size of 3-4 through the control transformation phase, train new members and proactively guide the team through execution of these controls

  • Drive accountability while also ensure a strong knowledge/expertise knowledge sharing with the market teams

3) Drive independent Risk Coverage Analysis for Contra Revenue (on both business and finance aspects) to ensure continuous improvement in controls processes:

  • Understand the underlying processes and programs to be able to design analytical controls, and envision the control operation and its execution

  • Draw a detailed mapping of the key business, financial, IT processes with and associated heatmap of risks and materiality.

  • Consult key subject matter experts across business and finance organizations to corroborate the risk and materiality analysis.

  • Develop analytic tools and processes, to detect and anticipate new risks.

  • Provide documented conclusions and drive proactive and concrete actions to continuously improve the control coverage and reduce the risks.


Education & Experience Recommended
• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.

• CA / CPA required
• Typically has 14+ years of job-related experience or 8-10 years of management experience, preferably in financial management, internal audit, accounting, or a related field. Experience in one of the big audit firms is a plus.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent understanding of US GAAP, accounting principles, compliance & controls, with advanced knowledge in one area.

  • SOX Documentation understanding (business process/system mapping).

  • Demonstrated cross-functional, cross-cultural collaboration and international experience.

  • Proven expertise in large project or program management.

  • Highly organized and structured.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Solution-oriented with a can-do attitude.

  • Continuous Improvement mindset.

  • Autonomous and transparent.

  • Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to model/simplify complex processes/issues.

  • Strong ability to prepare materials for executive reviews.

  • High sense of accountability.

  • Ability to influence into a complex matrix organization is critical.

The base pay range for this role is $130,350 to $200,750 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only).  Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
