Job Description:

Maintenance Lead

Job Summary

The Maintenance Lead will drive the maintenance technicians and line specialists to ensure safe, quality conscious, and efficient operation of production assets and tooling. This role is accountable for improving equipment availability and uptime through proactive asset management, effective prioritization, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring full compliance with regulatory and company standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the maintenance and line specialist teams to achieve business goals and individual growth.
  • Plan, prioritize, and implement emergency, corrective, and preventive maintenance activities to optimize uptime and reliability.
  • Own and administer the site CMMS: ensure accurate work orders, documentation, calibration records, and compliance with quality procedures.
  • Develop and lead spare part management strategy (forecasting, procurement, stock optimization, usage monitoring).
  • Lead vendor relationships, service contracts and SLAs for asset support and third‑party maintenance.
  • Drive root cause analysis, solving, and systematic resolution of equipment failures; reduce recurrence through corrective actions.
  • Coordinate equipment selection, acquisition, installation, qualification and handover to operations; support NPI and equipment upgrades.
  • Implement continuous improvement, cost‑optimization and efficiency projects using Lean, Six Sigma and Process Excellence tools.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report equipment and department performance metrics (e.g., uptime, MTTR, MTBF, backlog) to management on a regular cadence.
  • Approve and maintain production and equipment documentation including SOPs, quality instructions, drawings, CAPAs, audit records and non‑conformances.
  • Carry out and promote all health, safety, industrial hygiene and environmental requirements; lead safety initiatives and incident follow‑up.
  • Act as delegate of the Operations Engineering Manager when required and support additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate or Higher Degree in Engineering or related subject area required.
  • 5–7 years proven ability in a maintenance/engineering role within pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device manufacturing preferred, including at least 5 years in a leadership position.
  • Fluent in English and Dutch (verbal and written).
  • Strong technical background in maintenance and engineering rigors.
  • Confirmed experience with CMMS, OT data collection and analytics, and familiarity with MES or equivalent experience, maintenance and ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated experience applying continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Process Excellence).
  • This role will be based onsite 5 days per week
