We have an exciting role for a SW Dev Engineer Lead in Release Engineering team within the Global Device Software Organization. Our team works closely with our internal and external development partners to develop, test and deploy the softwares on Comcast’s Connectivity and Entertainment customer premises equipment (CPE) platfomrs.
We are looking for a highly motivated Lead Engineer , who will help drive change and help others to constantly come up with better solutions to evaluate product quality, performance, and the customer experience; as well as make a suggestion for improvements. We are looking for someone who does not just know how to solve problems, but who helps define the problems and direction, creates value, and pioneers new frontiers in Release Management functions.
Job Description
Core Responsibilities
- Leading Release Deployment: As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for driving on-time, high quality releases across a large number of devices. You would be responsible for the complete release management lifecycle, which includes scheduling, coordination, and management of releases on number of deployed devices. The position will require daily collaboration with Development, Field Triage and QA teams. You will assess and implement new tools, plugins, etc. that are necessary to improve the software release engineering process. You will manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality.
- Multi-functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary liaison for the technical team in multi-functional discussions, ensuring alignment on project goals, results and time to market. Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including clients, internal teams, and external partners. Communicate effectively to keep stakeholders informed of project status, risks, and changes.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify risks and dependencies, develop mitigation strategies, and advance issues to leadership as vital. Proactively address issues and escalate as needed to ensure timely resolution.
- Communication: Provide regular updates on program status, highlighting challenges and proposing solutions to internal partners, facilitating informed decision-making.
- Change Management: Lead change initiatives within the program, guiding teams through transitions and ensuring buy-in from stakeholders. Anticipate and address resistance to change to facilitate smooth implementation.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare regular reports and documentation to track program progress, expenditures, and outcomes. Present findings to senior management and stakeholders as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Leverage insights and standard processes from completed programs to drive continuous improvement in processes and outcomes for future projects.
- Continually improve processes, optimize workflow, and maintain the highest quality levels.
Experience/Skills
- A Bachelor degree in Engineering is required.
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3+ years in a Release Management role, ideally within multi-functional teams.
- Proficient in leading Release engineering functions and adopting change, maintaining flexibility and composure in uncertain situations.
- Experience in Agile/Scrum methodology ideally in a fast-paced DevOps environment
- Proven ability to works with technology partner/vendor teams to troubleshoot problems
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Highly self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to engage in critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of optimally articulating sophisticated technical issues and solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate on global projects across teams and time zones

Must haves:
- 10+ years of Software Engineering Experience
- Defect Tracking Tools such as Jira
- 3+ Years of experience as a technical lead and mentoring a small team of engineers
- One of Scripting language experience - BASH, Go, Python
Nice to have:
- Embedded Systems experience
- Experience AWS, Asure or other cloud infrastructure
- Experience with monitoring systems (i.e. Datadog, CloudWatch, etc.)
- Familiarity with continuous integration/deployment processes and tools such as Jenkins, Concourse etc.
- Knowledge and experience in Set-top box, Broadband Gateways, Networking or Home Security domain is plus.
