About the Role:
This position is an opportunity for a well-established Intensivist with at least 5 years of post-fellowship experience to contribute to the SVHM ICU team in a fractional appointment. Skills and experience in the provision of Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) are essential as this role will include participation in an ECMO oncall roster to support ECMO initiation and ongoing patient management. Interest and recent experience in neurocritical care is also required. Opportunities for leadership within the wider SVHM and SVPHM precinct may be available for candidates with appropriate experience.
In addition to clinical duties and an administrative portfolio, it is anticipated that the appointed Intensivist will participate in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching as well as quality assurance projects. Excellent opportunities also exist for clinical research and support of existing unit research activities is a requirement.

Classifications for this position will range from HN19 - HN59 depending on years of experience.

About the ICU Department
St Vincent’s Melbourne Intensive Care Unit (SVHM ICU) is a 20 bed mixed medical and surgical intensive care service that admits 1600 patients per year. Although high in acuity and patient severity of illness, ICU at SVHM maintains high performance and outstanding patient outcomes. It Is collocated within a healthcare precinct that incorporates St Vincent’s Private Hospital Melbourne (SVPHM) with a 12 bed ICU.
Subspeciality areas include cardiothoracic services, a growing Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) program and an acute neurocritical care program. Services provided outside the ICU include a medical emergency team, ICU outreach and liaison service, complex multidisciplinary patient care programs and tracheostomy review service. There are currently 3 fulltime and 7 fractional Intensivists with junior medical staffing provided by fellows, senior registrars, junior registrars and residents.
