The Role:

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to help lead a small dynamic, frontend-focused team to execute on a vision and deliver innovative solutions. The Senior Lead Software Engineer will help drive an ambitious workstream encompassing micro-frontend containers, container-agnostic apps, common components, cross-app/cross-component interoperability, dynamic layouts/dashboards, and window management. The candidate must possess extensive hands-on development skills in HTML5/TypeScript and experience in software design and development more generally, with a focus on delivery. This hands-on role requires not only technical expertise but also a passion for mentoring mid-level developers, fostering their growth, and enhancing team collaboration. The candidate should demonstrate exceptional leadership skills to motivate a team, ensuring high morale and productivity while driving projects to successful completion. Strong communication and problem-solving abilities are essential to navigate challenges and deliver high quality results.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the UI Framework Architect to execute on the frontend vision.
  • Lead a strong, dynamic, focused development team.
  • Design and build high-quality frontend solutions including micro-frontends, interoperability, and common components.
  • Develop innovative technology approaches and solutions to solve problems.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions to ensure optimal software performance.
  • Participate in Inner Source initiatives to facilitate reuse of code and proven patterns.
  • Collaborate with other teams, working constructively in partnership.
  • Build awareness of customers' needs.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering is required, or in lieu, a demonstrated equivalence in work experience.
  • 8+ years’ experience as a lead software engineer with core hands-on experience.
  • Displays a consistent, positive, can-do professional attitude.  Open-minded and flexible.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Focused on delivery, quality, and timeliness.
  • Demonstrated experience of leading and motivating a team, ensuring high morale and productivity.
  • Must have very strong HTML5 and TypeScript experience, with in-depth experience of React, Node, npm, etc.
  • Ability to remain hands-on – leading by example by writing high-quality code directly, in addition to handling high-level matters such as backlog refinement, oversight, architecture, and code quality.
  • Perform thorough code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor mid-level developers.
  • Advanced understanding of JavaScript frameworks, native browser APIs, messaging, REST APIs, WebSockets and AWS Cloud.
  • Knowledge of micro-frontend architecture concepts and patterns.
  • Extensive experience in unit testing and mocking.
  • Expertise in web security best practices to safeguard applications against vulnerabilities.
  • Solid understanding of authentication and authorization protocols for securing modern applications and APIs like OAuth 2.0, OIDC.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Experience in full-stack development, ideally with C#.
  • Strong experience with GitHub, Azure DevOps, build tools, packaging/bundling, CI/CD pipelines, code quality technologies (e.g. ESLint, Mend, SonarQube).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor a team.
  • Experience of working on mission critical systems in large global enterprises.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate, to continuously improve, and to adapt and learn new technologies and tools quickly.
  • Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision when required.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
