What is this role?

As a Plant Engineer for Cirkul, you will be responsible for the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing execution systems for equipment. You will be the technical support on the equipment and lead reapplication, small and large scale projects, and loss elimination/continuous improvement activities. This role requires proficiencies in both electrical and mechanical systems throughout the facility, as well as champion lean initiatives.

 What does an average day look like? 

  • Driving Results: 
    • Lead equipment loss analysis, reapplication activities, product and process upgrades, improvements and initiatives.
    • Assist in the design, development, testing, and implementation of automation systems.
    • Contribute to the documentation of specifications, operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Taking Ownership:
    • Develop, execute, and lead manufacturing execution systems.
    • Participate in the troubleshooting and resolution of day-to-day issues, ensuring minimal disruption to production and operational processes.
  • Making Decisions:
    • Develop and improve manufacturing systems for equipment including, but not limited to: centerlines, Clean-Inspect-Lubricate, Defect Elimination, Workplace Organization, etc.
  • Cultivating Relationships:
    • Lead small group continuous improvement activities.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, logistics, accounting, supply chain, automation engineering, and IT, to gather requirements and implement solutions that meet business needs.
    • Actively engage in knowledge sharing and collaborate with other engineering teams in plant and at the corporate offices to enhance overall team performance.
  •  Instilling Trust:
    • Willing to work hard and help implement safety systems throughout the manufacturing sites.
    • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements and propose innovative ideas for continuous improvement within the controls engineering department.
  • Customer Focus:
    • Develop systems to ensure equipment is operating in a safe manner and within quality and food safety parameters.

 

What background should you have?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
  • 2-4 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Strong passion for all things engineering and a desire to build a career in the manufacturing Industry.
  • Solid understanding of basic mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience with designing mechanical systems with your hands “on-the-fly” and with CAD systems like Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
  • Familiarity with programming languages and software used in controls engineering, such as ladder logic, structured text, C/C++, Java, Python, AutoCAD.
  • Ability to self manage and self prioritize while keeping a pulse on the business needs.
  • Ability to take high level direction and turn it into executable tasks.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Experience developing and leading manufacturing execution systems.
  • Experienced in project management.
  • Willing to work hard, stay until the job is complete, and demonstrate resilience.
  • Have a positive attitude, willing to work with multiple levels of employees, and thrive in a fast paced environment.
  • Prior experience in controls engineering or automation-related roles is a plus.
