Position Summary

In this role, you’ll take care of the day-to-day accounting tasks for Arch Insurance. This includes recording premiums from agents, tracking claims activity, and applying payments to outstanding receivables. You’ll be responsible for a specific book of business and will work closely with teams across the company, as well as agency partners.

While insurance experience is ideal, we are open to a candidate who is eager to learn the ropes and can deliver accurate, timely financial reports for their assigned accounts.

This role will sit in the Jersey City office, on a hybrid schedule of two days in the office, and three days remote.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Process all Premium and cash activity for assigned programs

• Update premium receivables for all assigned programs

• Process cash received monthly and apply to the open premium receivable balances

• Follow up with agency regarding status of open balances

• Calculate reinsurance transactions according to contracts

• Prepare Reinsurance Statements monthly

• Process all Reinsurance related cash activity and update applicable sub-ledgers

• Prepare monthly reconciliation of sub-ledgers to general ledger

• Prepare manual adjustments for Quarter Closing process

• Produce Quarterly P&Ls for the respective business assigned

• Assist with financial audits

• Handle all special projects and financial analysis as assigned by management

Required Skills and Abilities

• Excellent proficiency with Excel, including a strong understanding of vlookups, pivot tables, and data management

• Familiarity with Workday Financials or other cloud ERP systems

• Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with a strong ability to think through issues

• Proactive and able to organize and prioritize to meet multiple demands and deadlines

• Skilled in evaluating processes to identify opportunities for improvement

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

• 2+ years experience working in Accounting or Finance

• Insurance experience is preferred, but not required

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$61,500 - $79,900/year

• Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
