Firenze, Italy (Hybrid)

Candidate shall be able to manage the whole lifecycle of a bid from a technical point of view, for the following areas:

o    Communication Systems (IP Networking, Network Security, PABX and VoIP, WLAN, GSM-R, LTE, FRMCS, Structured Cabling, etc.)
o    Passenger Mobility Systems (Public Information Displays, Public Address Systems, Video Broadcasting Systems, etc.)
o    Security Systems (CCTV, Access Control Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, Digital Video and Voice recording, Fire Protection Systems, etc.)
o    SCADA/OCC Systems

He will operate during Bid phase. As part of the Bid / Tender stage, system engineer will analyze contractual and system requirements, derive subsystem requirements and built the system architecture based on the outcome of such analysis.

Main activities

•    In the context of Engineering accountability, is responsible for all technical activities: identifying and analyzing the requirements (Contractual and System Requirements phase), defining the architecture, allocating the requirements to the system components, defining the interfaces between components, developing solutions (System Design)
•    Is responsible for the conformity with requirements, quality, performance relevant to his Engineering work package
•    Proposes the technical solution
•    Ensures requirements management and their allocation to subsystems/components
•    Ensures coordination and communication among the various players in technical activities
•    Is the main technical interface for his subsystems
•    Participates to Bid Meetings (internal and external) when scheduled and/or requested.
•    Compiles reports concerning his role and responsibilities according to internal reporting procedure.
•    Coordinates and controls of the different Vendors / Manufacturers, Suppliers and Subcontractors
•    Correctly applies Quality procedures and HSE procedures and instruction
•    Allocates and co-ordinates human and physical resources in his team (if any)
•    Continually reviews the technical Scope of Work and keeps updated the scope baseline informing constantly the Bid Manager and the Solution Engineering Manager
•    Supports and contributes to technical bid activities
•    Contributes to the delivery of outcomes/artefacts (technical specs, BoQ, technical risks, assumption&esclusion, etc)  required by Bids in which is involved
•    Coordinates with Purchasing Department for the technical content of RFQ, for Offers evaluation and Suppliers selection
•    Supports the Purchasing Department in the definition of subcontracts and standard clauses to be inserted in the Sub Contract Agreement and in the Purchase Orders

Skills and experience

Bid Engineer with a professional experience (min. 8 years) in the technical management of Telecom Subsystems relevant to complex integrated Bids/projects in Transportation Domain (Railways, Metro, Tramways, Tunnels, Urban Security, etc.).

Bid Engineer role requires technical knowledge of all the main technologies and subsystems used to implement IT, Telecom and Security services, of the way in which these subsystems are integrated   and the relevant operational scenarios.

  Main skills/expertise requested by the candidate to successfully cover the role are:

o    For Telecommunication Networks / IT Infrastructures:
    Design, Integration of complex multiservice (data / video / voice) wired telecommunication networks (Gigabit Ethernet, MPLS, SDH, etc…), IP backbones and protocols (LACP, RSTP, OSPF, VLAN, etc…)
    Design, Integration of wireless telecommunication networks (Wi-Fi, TETRA, GSM-R, LTE, FRMCS etc…)

o    For Security Systems, Passenger Information Systems (Wayside, On Board)
    Design, Integration of CCTV, Intrusion Detection Systems (EN 50131), Access Control Systems, Fire & Smoke Detection Systems (EN 54 and UL/FM)
    Design, Integration of VoIP Telephone, Intercom and Emergency Call Systems
    Design, Integration of Public Announcement / General Alarm Systems (PAGA), Voice Evacuation Systems (EVAC) (IEC 60849 / EN 54-16)
    Design, Integration of Multimedia / Passenger Information Display Systems (PIS)

o    EMI/EMC Standards, Railway Standards:
    Knowledge of main EMI/EMC international standards (IEC 61000, EN 50121…)
    Knowledge of RFI standards for Tunnel Security applications (TT528, TT597…)
    Knowledge of main Rolling Stock standards (EN 50155, EN 50121-3-2, EN61373, IEC61375)
o    Design and Integration of LV/MV Power Supply Systems (UPS, AC/DC, LFM, etc...)
o    Design and Integration of SCADA/OCC Systems
o    Knowledge of RFI standards for Tunnel Security applications

The candidate must have developed through his professional experiences the capability of managing relationship with other departments, Customers and Suppliers.

Fluent English and italian are mandatory.
