Your Mission

As a Lead Product Manager you will be responsible for the development of player-centric and data-informed strategies to optimize for long-term success for the franchise. You will be accountable to own one or more strategic projects for World of Warcraft from ideation through to delivery. The ideal candidate is both a thinker and do-er with outstanding communication skills, proven experience in the gaming industry, and a proven track record of supporting AAA products. Importantly, they will have a deep understanding of and empathy for our players because they are a player themselves.

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA or Boston, MA.

What you bring to the table: 

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Become a core member of a cross-discipline team (including business, design, production, engineering) focused driving World of Warcraft Classic performance 

  • Become an expert on our players: their pain points, needs and wants  

  • Exhibit sound product judgment to influence our WoW Classic game roadmap 

  • Develop strategies that drive increased acquisition rates, near-term engagement and long-term retention, and monetization 

  • Take a data-driven approach to collaborate with design and production to identify and implement features which promote retention for different segments of the player base 

  • Monitor and escalate potential issues and share performance data with development team, publishing, and leadership 

  • Translate strategy into a set of clear measurable objectives tied to franchise goals, and demonstrate how initiatives impact key business metrics 

  • Work closely with Marketing, Finance, and Battle.net platform teams to develop and execute business strategies for WoW Classic, including pricing, sales promotions, and monetization models 

  • Assess the impact of features/initiatives and share what the team has learned within Blizzard 

  • Monitor the competitive landscape, bringing forward novel approaches and best practices 

Minimum Requirements

Experience

  •  A minimum of 8+ years of experience in a business, product management, strategy or analytics role supporting AAA and/or live service products

  • Experience distilling large amounts of data to draw actionable business insight, including segmentation approaches, multivariate testing and experimentation 

  • Experience communicating and defending analytical insights to executive-level audiences to inform decision making 

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, managing several live complex projects with diverse teams. Specifically, experience working closely with creative/development teams and knowledge of game development processes is valuable in the role 

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • A recognized expert at leading through influence and working through consensus building

  • Expertise in JIRA, Confluence or comparable team collaboration applications 

  • Strong project management skills and a self-starter approach to delivering results 

  • Passionate gamer with working knowledge of Blizzard games, products, and services (particularly World of Warcraft) 

Extra Points

  • 4+ years of experience leading and/or managing teams, particularly other product managers

Knowledge & Skills

  • MBA or a relevant graduate-level degree providing expertise on business operations topics is preferred 

  • Experience with subscription-based business models

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $105,120.00 - $194,400.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
