Citi is looking to hire a junior trader for the Equity Funding desk. The role will require analysis of the many constraining factors including liquidity, tenor management, regulatory metrics & inventory optimisation to execute the most cost-efficient structures. This is with the objective of supporting the continued growth of the wider Prime, D1 & Equities business at Citi.

By joining this desk, you will be responsible for trading Equity swaps, repos, stock loan, FX swaps and Interest Rate swaps. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the desk head while building their skills to develop autonomy in decision making & book management.

You will also be expected to lead and support on projects to enhance the existing processes, controls, technology, reporting, product offering and liquidity models.

What you will do will be varied day to day, but the key drivers for the role are:

  • Analyse the outputs of a variety of reporting, with large volumes of data, to make decisions about the required trade types, structures, tenors & sizes.

  • Execute new trades & lifecycle events across the range of products traded by the desk and take responsibility for book management, risk monitoring, flashing the P&L and executing appropriate hedges to mitigate FX, cross currency, interest rate exposures.

  • Execute projects/analysis on important metrics to understand the theory, propose logic changes, inform trading decisions, ensure accurate pricing.

  • Ensure that street facing costs are effectively passed back to internal stakeholders, improving transparency and clarity, so that success of trading actions is clearly represented.

  • Work with technology and quant partners to develop systematic improvements, including contribution to the spec, ongoing contact and UAT.

  • Liaise with treasury to coordinate usage of the firm’s resources, changes to liquidity and keep abreast of changing requirement and with sales to develop the franchise, anticipating client & internal demand in each respective product/market.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.

What we will need from you:

  • Experience of working for a large banking institution, either in a trading role or a treasury function familiar with liquidity management

  • A good understanding of how Prime & Delta One businesses operate, the products they trade, the embedded risks and the constraints they operate under

  • Being able to demonstrate experience in working with large sets of data to produce concise and actionable conclusions.

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication and effective interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience in some of Python, VBA, Bloomberg & Excel are required.
