Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Principal Engineer - Processing will provide technical leadership, expertise, and direction to develop the highest-value solutions for capital projects, enterprise-wide specifications and standards, and design guidelines. You will lead the development of deliverables that are aligned with business strategies and deliver high-value results. Work with a cross-functional teams to review product and processing requirements to determine and develop an optimized technical and business solution.
Position Responsibilities
Support and provide expert technical solutions supporting overall our goals and strategies while ensuring compliance to standards and processes.
Develop organizational-wide standards, design guidelines, and templates for process equipment and applications.
Develop and create Operational Factors that explains and details the functionality of a specific end-to-end process.
Develop Front-End-Loading packages (FEL’s) that are complete and concise, and reflect due diligence to ensure project success. FEL packages include the following documents or activities:
Technology assessment and recommended solutions reflecting plant, ConAgra, and industry best-in-class practices
Drawing of physical location, general arrangement, and placement of equipment
Infrastructure requirements and needs assessment
Preliminary Capital / Expense Estimates
Work with the Engineering Project Manager to determine a schedule that meets the project schedule requirements
Develop equipment and system performance criteria
Identify project alternatives, pre-requisites, risks, and opportunities
Write detailed functional control descriptions for the unit operations and processing systems recommended by the Engineer.
Perform reviews (own work and peer reviews) of FEL packages or equivalent for accuracy, completeness, and operational effectiveness.
Review Technical Briefs providing technical guidance to project team.
Develop Business Case Screening Estimates to give the business a directional view of a project and the robustness of the business case.
Keep current with latest food processing technology and commercial applications.
Keep current with latest industry regulations and codes relative to processing equipment system design and operation.
Provide technical and economic feasibility information to other groups within ConAgra that are focused on improvements or developing competitive advantages.
Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Engineering, or Agricultural Engineering
12 plus years of experience in the food, pet food, nutraceutical, and beverage industry with process design, process engineering, and commercialization knowledge.
Plant operations experience is beneficial
Experience in project engineering and project execution.
Experience explaining technical requirements to both technical and nontechnical audiences
Knowledge of continuous improvement applications in engineering design.
Experience working collaboratively within a matrix organization.
Experience transcribing project requirements into technical solutions through sound application of engineering principles.
Curious mindset about how things work, move, and contribute to a system, with out-of-box thinking and courage to brainstorm solutions with others to meet project outcomes.
You will travel on average 50% - 65% within North America
Location: East of Colorado, located near a major airport, depending on location travel is 50 to 65% within North America

Compensation:
Annual Base Salary: $128,000.00 - $152,000.00The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees’ equity. Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
