The Opportunity

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re seeking an Engineering Manager, MarTech to join our Growth Engineering organization. This role will lead the engineering team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the company's marketing technology stack. The candidate will enable data-driven marketing strategies, enhance customer experiences, and optimize marketing operations through robust, scalable, and innovative technical solutions. The ideal candidate is a technical leader with a strong background in software development and marketing tools and a deep understanding of marketing operations.

As a MarTech engineering manager, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Leadership and strategy in defining and executing the technical strategy for MarTech, collaborating with relevant stakeholders, leading and mentoring a team of software engineers, and staying informed on emerging technologies related to marketing, data, and machine learning.
  • Technical development and execution of the marketing technology stack, including the notification platform, content management, data layer, affiliates, and ad targeting, ensure seamless integration between the MarTech and other systems involving data platforms and infrastructure.
  • Data and Analytics Enablement by collaborating with Data teams, support the implementation of analytics engineering and tools to enable Marketers to create high ROI activity.
  • Stakeholder management, by partnering with marketing leaders and team members, acts as a bridge between engineering and marketing teams and, at times, manages vendor relationships. 
  • Governance and compliance by ensuring the martech stack complies with data privacy and security standards and establishing best practices for tracking, reporting, and data management overall.
  • During the first 30 days, you are expected to build relationships, assess the current state, and identify immediate priorities.
  • During the first 60 days, you are expected to establish a roadmap, optimize processes, and deliver incremental improvements.
  • During the first 90 days, you are expected to achieve measurable results, empower the team, and set the foundation for long-term success.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role focused on MarTech or a similar domain.
  • Strong experience in software development and system architecture, focusing on MarTech or related technologies.
  • Proficiency in integrating and managing marketing tools such as Iterable, SendGrid, Pardot, Google Analytics, etc
  • Familiarity with APIs, ETL processes, and data pipelines.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing, customer segmentation, and analytics tools like Netspring, Databricks, Tableau, etc.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Grammarly takes a market-based approach to compensation, which means base pay may vary depending on your location. Our US locations are categorized into two compensation zones based on proximity to our hub locations.

Base pay may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The expected salary ranges for this position are outlined below by compensation zone and may be modified in the future.  

Zone 1: $220,000 - $363,000/year (USD)
