Job Description Summary:

This role is for a paralegal in the EMEA litigation team. In this role, the paralegal works closely with fellow litigation team members and internal stakeholders to coordinate and manage all aspects of litigation.

Job Description:

PayPal’s Legal Team is looking for an experienced and dynamic paralegal to join its litigation team. In this role, you will work closely with fellow litigation team members and internal stakeholders to coordinate and manage all aspects of litigation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the management of litigation activities in the EMEA on assigned matters through trial, including research, pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, conferences, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and appeals.

  • Be accountable for managing small court claims in the UK.

  • Maintain and manage information relating to litigation and other matters handled by PayPal’s Litigation team.

  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to assist the litigation team and others in the company to increase efficiency and to drive enhanced processes and efficiencies.

  • Assist with global litigation reporting processes, including regular case updates and statistics.

  • Manage and leverage data to support decisions on litigation management.

  • Work on complex assignments requiring advanced problem-solving skills.  

Qualifications:

  • This is an experienced paralegal role requiring a demonstrated proficiency and experience in all aspects of litigation management. 

  • UK paralegal qualification required.

  • Must have 5 or more years of litigation experience.

  • Responsible for reporting to senior managers in the litigation and legal function – including the ability to communicate in writing and verbally in a clear and concise manner. 

  • Must be excellent at organizing and tracking metrics and keeping accurate records and case files. 

  • Must have experience preparing concise and succinct presentations, graphs and reports. 

  • Must be a good project manager who is able to bring various constituencies and stakeholders together to complete projects timely and efficiently.

  • Highly skilled in MS PowerPoint and MS Excel.

  • Customer focused business mindset.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive mindset.

  • Team player who is comfortable with a dynamic and changing environment that emphasizes collaboration.

  • Ability to manage numerous projects and cases simultaneously under tight deadlines.

  • Skilled oral and written communicator. 

  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under challenging circumstances.

  • Familiarity with, and strong interest in, PayPal, mobile payments, emerging payment technology and the payments industry. 

  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to keep and maintain clear, accurate, and concise records.

  • Prior experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
