THE ROLE

We are looking for team player that will work with our clients and intermediaries in a dual role: having relationship management responsibilities with our group retirement clients, specifically gatekeepers and client facing investment staff as well as working with Group Advisors on supporting and promoting MFS investment strategies in the group retirement market.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Relationship Management

  • Acts as primary contact for our group retirement clients regarding all aspects of the relationship with MFS, specifically gatekeepers and client facing investment staff.

  • Responsible for conducting investment governance reviews and is the point person with respect to all aspects of investment queries and reviews for our clients’ third-party investment platforms.

  • Consistently strives to deepen client relationships by providing thought leadership and practice management with regular touch points including webinars and face to face meetings.

  • Keeps clients informed of products and enhancements within MFS and relevant industry information and developments in financial markets.

  • Interacts with other MFS departments (Client Service, Investment, Legal, Accounting, Compliance) to ensure that client needs are being met at all levels.

Sales

  • Drives sales by prospecting Group Advisors, promoting MFS’s capabilities in the Group Retirement Market.

  • Promotes MFS strategies that are available in the group retirement market.

  • Provides detailed investment information sessions, thought leadership and practice management to Group Advisory Firms.

  • Works with Group Advisors to get MFS’s strategies on recommended lists, searches and mappings for replacement searches.

  • Grows MFS’s reach by seeking out new relationships in the Group Advisory Market.

  • Works with client facing investment staff on providing investment level support, specifically at plan sponsor investment review, replacement searches and inclusion on recommended lists.

  • Works on sales opportunities from RFP stage to final pitch that are generated from our group retirement clients.

  • Provides period investment reviews, trend updates to client facing investment teams of our group retirement clients.

  • Monitors industry trends, advises on company product development and develops a long-term strategy for marketing MFS' investment management to institutions to achieve sales goals. This will include designing and implementing a business plan every year.

  • Achieve the goal of expanding fixed income business our footprint in the DC market with a focus on target date funds.

  • Responsible for preparing sales proposals and client meeting presentation materials by liaising and coordinating with internal parties/departments, such as RFP team, Fund/Product Managers and other related support teams.

  • Promote MFS hosted events with target clients and attend industry events to ensure MFS’ presence in the industry.

Other Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance of office with internal MFS regulations as well as external regulatory requirements. Escalate regulatory compliance issues in accordance with established policies and procedures to Regional Compliance Officer APAC.

  • Maintain proper record keeping on CRM for all sales and business activities.

  • Assume additional responsibilities as requested.

REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 8-12+ years’ investment-related or financial experience with at least 5 years’ experience in the group retirement market

  • Wholesaler mind set – will be working with intermediaries to generate sales.

  • Knowledge of the Canadian Target Date landscape required to effectively find sales opportunities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Solid understanding of the group retirement services market – how investment decisions are made and who are the market influencers.

  • A strong track record in sales and delivering exemplary client service.

  • Collegiate team player, will work collaboratively with other members of the Canadian Distribution team for retention and growth opportunities.

  • Proficiency in English mandatory, proficiency in French preferred.

  • Approximately 30% travel requirement.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSES/ CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • AR-CRM registration, or CIM, or CFA level 1 highly preferred.
