Cleaning Team Leader

Location: West Lothian – Livingston

Salary: £21,840 per annum - £14 hourly.

Position Type: Full time – 30 hrs per week, Monday – Friday:  1.30pm to 7.30pm

About the Role:

We have a great opportunity to join an already established team, as a Cleaning Team Leader in West Lothian, supervising a team of 11 cleaners within a School. If you have previous experience working within this sector as a cleaner, and some supervisory experience as well as having a strong customer focus, then this job will be perfect for you! The purpose of this position is to provide cleaning cover for holidays/sickness throughout 6 schools within West Lothian.

To supervise and manage all works completed by cleaners on Facilities Management contracts, ensuring safety, quality and cost standards. Responsible for supervising a team of operatives to achieve high standards.

  • To supervise the current cleaning team.
  • To carry out cleaning duties that adhere to the contract specifications as well as inspecting the cleaning carried out by your team.
  • To manage to the schedule of cleaners and reallocate work to cover absences.
  • To ensure all cleaning equipment is well maintained and safe for use.
  • Utilise existing stock or collect materials as required for the site.
  • To use the appropriate equipment, materials, tools and machinery to ensure the job is done effectively.
  • To report any damage/defects to the appropriate person.
  • Ensuring Mears procurement standards are maintained.
  • Attend informal and formal meetings and training sessions to ensure up to date business and job knowledge, communication, skills & progression are maintained. This includes but is not limited to training, re-training, toolbox talks, 1:1’s, probation reviews etc.
  • Assist the Soft FM Manger in planning works and arranging materials for all tasks to be completed on the contract.
  • Adopt a professional manner when communicating with building users and/or client/external contacts to build and maintain a positive view of Mears Group. This includes but is not limited to appearance, company ID, communication.
  • Highlight any safeguarding concerns to the appropriate person as early as possible to ensure they liaise with the client in accordance with the safeguarding policy.

Role Criteria:

  • Extensive experience in a similar position – supervisory and cleaning experience
  • GCSE A-E or above in Maths & English or equivalent
  • Good written and verbal skillsets
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures
  • Client focused individual
  • Soft FM contract experience or understanding of the sector is not essential but desirable
  • Experience in working in a facilities management contract is also not essential but advantageous
  • BICS qualification – will also been seen as highly advantageous
