What you’ll do

In this role you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues, and contribute to the overall business strategy and goals of our Gas Power, Hydro, and Steam Power businesses. You will serve as the go-to lawyer for a defined group of customers and business teams in the United States and Canada, and will collaborate with leaders, business teams (e.g., Operations, Sales, Engineering, and Finance), and our customers. Your work will span drafting and negotiating new equipment sales and long- and short-term services, software, and digital agreements, advising Operations and other business teams on ongoing performance matters, and help resolve disputes, including drafting and negotiating settlements, and provide litigation support. There is also opportunity to support GE Vernova’s Compliance, Intellectual Property, EHS, Antitrust, M&A, Corporate Governance and other legal and business teams. You will train teams on contract terms and risks, compliance (including competition law), dispute resolution, and other legal matters. Your work will include:

• Provide leadership and strategic, legal and compliance advice to Region leadership, Operations, Sales/ Commercial, Finance and specific Business Lines teams in three Power businesses to help drive business' objectives on contractual and regulatory (such as NERC CIPS) risk.
• Structure, negotiate, and close complex commercial transactions for the sale of equipment, controls systems, and related services for GE Vernova’s hydrogen and natural gas-fueled gas turbines and aero-derivative turbine, hydro turbine, and steam turbine equipment.
• Meet and negotiate with customers, their business and legal teams, and outside counsel.

• Assess and advise on U.S. local, municipal, state, federal and Canadian regulations.
• Assess, advise on, and drive resolution of disputes, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation, overseeing outside counsel when they are brought in to assist.
• Lead projects and initiatives and become a recognized subject matter expert on Power’s commercial offerings.
• Collaborate with legal colleagues in the Americas and worldwide.
• Work with the business teams to develop processes and Best Practices for new business and commercial models and offerings.

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)

• Juris Doctorate from a U.S. accredited law school.
• At least 10 years practicing transactional and commercial law and/or business litigation.
• Member in good standing with a U.S. State Bar.

The salary range for this position is 176,300.00 - 235,000.00 - 293,800.00 USD Annual. Annual The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive performance bonus of 15%. For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $176,300.00 and $293,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
