10Performs outdoor grounds-keeping duties such as mowing, trimming, garbage collection, litter pick up, ball diamond grooming and other maintenance tasks on parks, sports fields, open spaces, and boulevards
Operates equipment such as tractors and attachments, one ton dump trucks, truck and trailer, mini loaders, gators, and assorted small engines
Directs, guides and leads other staff assigned to work as part of the crew
Maintains parks and open spaces to a safe and tidy standard and manages time effectively to complete work plans
Represents the Town of Milton in a professional manner and prioritizes customer service
Complies with all health and safety practices as it relates to the work, standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health & Safety Act
Perform all other duties in a professional manner as assigned in accordance with Department objectives
Secondary School Diploma required
Education and experience in turf maintenance and/or skilled trades is considered an asset
Qualified and trained in the operation of vehicles including; tractors with attachments, pickup trucks and 1 ton dump trucks.
Certifications and Designations
Minimum G license is required
DZ license is considered an asset
Current Standard First Aid Certificate/CPR and WHMIS is considered an asset
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Additional Skills
Ability to work outside in inclement weather
Must be able to perform manual labour including lifting over 50 pounds
The successful candidate must have a clean driving record that demonstrates responsible and safe driving habits. A recent driver’s abstract dated within 30 days will be required if selected for an interview. Persons with 4 or more demerit points need not apply.
