About the Role
This role is crucial in shaping and driving the company’s AI strategy, ensuring ethical governance, and executing high-impact AI initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
• Strategic Leadership: Identify and capitalize on opportunities where AI can deliver substantial value and competitive advantage. Lead the formulation and periodic refresh of AI strategies aligned with the company’s goals.
• Governance: Champion the ethical use of AI, providing strategic guidance on compliance with responsible AI principles and industry best practices. Proactively identify and mitigate biases and risks in AI models, ensuring transparency and accountability.
• Execution: Develop and implement clear roadmaps for AI and Generative AI strategies across all markets, ensuring effective execution and alignment with business objectives.
In this role, the Head of Group AI will be responsible for leading AIA’s exploration of where, why and how AI (cognitive and non cognitive) may be applied to improve AIA’s customer experience, distribution effectiveness, business processes and operating efficiency, while maintaining regulatory compliance.
The Head of Group AI will play a key role in explaining AI concepts to AIA’s leadership team, defining specific ‘use cases’ for potential adoption, and overseeing the integration of those as appropriate into our business to create measurable impact. The appointee will champion the selective launch and implementation of Proof of Concept projects across the 18 Asia Pacific markets that make up the AIA Group.
They will also be responsible for building capability both within Group and across our markets to ensure AI can become industrialised across all of our key processes.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Define the AI strategy and periodically refresh in alignment with the company's Ascend 200 and TDA strategies
- Lead the development and implementation of new generative AI-driven products, solutions, and services
- Stay up to date with the latest AI technologies, tools, and trends, and evaluate their potential for the company's growth
- Responsible to deliver frameworks to ensure quality delivery AI solutions and the tracking mechanism of impact or quality post implementation
Governance
- Champion the ethical use of AI technologies, providing reasonable to senior management on the Group’s compliance with responsible AI principles, taking into consideration the control and business objectives with relevant regulations and industry best practices
- Identify and address potential biases or risks associated with AI algorithms and models
- Promote transparency, fairness, and accountability in all AI-related processes and decision-making
Execution
- Identify where AI can provide significant value and competitive advantage using emerging technologies such as Gen AI
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design AI solutions that address specific business needs
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or related quantitative field
- Demonstrated working knowledge and expertise with AI related technologies
- Track record of success applying AI concepts to business opportunities and/or problems
- Ability to roll out solutions on cloud platforms like Azure
- Proven ability to explain the value of AI to business leaders
- 15 + years of experience in software programming experience
- Proven experience driving high-impact technology initiatives across complex, global organizations
- Ability to pick up life and health insurance concepts quickly
Demonstrated leadership qualities, including presentation, influencing and negotiation - Experience in strategic planning and change project management desirable
- Fluency in written and spoken English essential
